Blade Eaters

The Indoline people are the longest living race in Alrest, and they exist as the government. During the time of the Aegis War, they took inspiration from Judicium's Flesh Eaters, but did the opposite, humans that had a Core Crystal embedded into them, creating stronger humans with longer life spans and the powers of a Blade.

Flesh Eaters

Before the Aegis War, the kingdom known as Judicium experimented on Blades and their Drivers, trying to create stronger Blades and prolong their own existence. They had the Blade absorb human essence, causing reddish-pink bloches to appear on the Blade's Core Crystal, as well as a power increase and the Blade no longer needing their Driver to stay alive.

Blades

Blades are initially formless, anchored to the world by the gemstone that acts as their lineline, their Core Crystal. Only when someone has the correct aptitude and can handle the Blade's power, will they be awakened. Blades can take on many forms; male, female, humanoid, feline beast, or bipedal birds. In battle, a Blade can channel one of eight elemental atmospheric energies called Ether; fire, water, earth, wind, ice, lightning, darkness, and in rare cases light. When a Blade forms a bond with someone, that individual is known as the Blade's Driver. Blade absorb Ether into their Core Crystal where it manifests and is sent to the Driver's weapon for attacks known as Arts. However, Blade's can only supply so much energy so fast, if it runs out, then the Driver can be left in harm's way. If a Driver dies, their bonded Blade returns to its Core Crystal and it's memory is completely wiped except for it's own name and how to fight. After some time, the Core Crystal will begin to glow again, and a new Driver can resonate with, reawakening an essentially new Blade. To prevent this, Blades are capable of form protective barriers, but they can shatter against too much force.

Background

500 years prior to present day, a man named Adam led a resistance against the evil Blade, Malos, with the help of the Blade he awakened, Mythra. Mythra and Malos are a special type of Blade known as Aegises, and thus this legendary battle became known as The Aegis War
