If a hive of biters has been absorbing pollution for a sufficient period of time, a squad of various biters will begin to form near the hive. A squad should contain ten or more biters. Once the squad is ready, the entire squad will attack the source of pollution.

Biter hives are clusters of biters, underground worms and nuclei.

The Biter Core appears as a pulsating pimple, approximately 2 meters in radius and 1.5 meters in height. It is the core that periodically creates new Biters. The core cannot produce more Biters than its limit allows. This limit increases if the core has evolved through time, killing Biters, or absorbing pollution. Only the core can create new Biters, including evolved Biters. Upon death, it seemingly "deflates."

The Subterranean Worm is an immobile, fleshy object, most resembling a worm with four fangs. It's aggressive. It shoots stomach acid, trying to predict your next location based on your movements. It usually remains dormant and activates when approached within range. In dormant mode, it remains buried underground and may not be visible from a distance. In active mode, it emerges from the ground for a distance of 2 meters. The Subterranean Worm can also evolve through time, killed biters, or absorbed pollution.

A common biter—human-sized, neutral. Obeys the mind of its hive. Fights only in close combat. The Spittering Biter is slightly smaller than a human and neutral. It obeys the mind of its hive. It spits acid from its stomach at its opponent, directly at their current location. It is physically weaker than a normal Biter and cannot fight in close combat. It is easier to kill than a normal Biter.

Rocks come in various sizes and shapes, but are no larger than 4 meters in diameter. Stones can be quickly mined. If a rock is larger than 3 meters in diameter, coal can also be mined from it. Rocks occur in groups of 3 to 14 stones, with the stone being larger the closer to the center of the group. Larger rock groups are less common than small ones. Rock groups are more common in desert biomes.

All resources are located in close proximity to the surface.
