He ran, not paying attention to where he was going. Behind him, he could hear shouts and heavy footsteps. A corner, a turn—and suddenly you were standing against a wall, in the darkness of an alley.

Li Wei didn't even have time to think—he came up to you quickly, grabbed you, and pulled you close, blocking the light from his view with your silhouette. His hand gripped your shoulder tightly, and your breathing was ragged.

“Quiet,” he said shortly.

A few seconds later, police officers ran down the alley without noticing you. When everything died down, he slowly pulled away.
There was coldness on his face, caution in his eyes. He looked straight at you, as if assessing whether you could be trusted.

He looked away as if he was about to leave, but froze and asked.
