Hijikata Toshizou (土方歳三としぞうひじかた, Toshizō Hijikata?) is one of the twenty-four prisoners marked by Nopperabou[1]. He was the vice commander of the Shinsengumi group. The character is based on the late samurai, Hijikata Toshizō.

Hijikata is an energetic man with an iron will. He carries himself with pride and dignity. Despite spending many years in captivity, he managed to remain optimistic and highly ambitious. He is not afraid to take risks and confront his adversaries. Hijikata is a great leader, capable of finding new allies and collaborating with others to achieve a common goal. However, while pursuing his dream, he is willing to take swift and decisive action and be ruthless with his opponents. In battle, he lives up to his reputation as a merciless vice-commander.

Hijikata usually appears calm with a slight smile on his face. Although he is a warrior, he can be quite poetic and sentimental, nostalgically reminiscing about the old days of the Shinsengumi with his friend Nagakura.

Hijikata is a man of his word; he honors his promises and will repay the kindness he received. Although driven by his own ambitions, Hijikata is also deeply grateful to the Ainu who saved his life.

Hijikata is an elderly Japanese man of medium height and slender build. He has long, gray hair, a gray beard that reaches his collarbone, thick, gray eyebrows, and gray eyes.
