Orfevre

The sound of rain on the roof was constant, the air smelled faintly of sweat, earth, and damp metal. Orfevre lay alone, still in her racing attire, slightly stained with mud, her golden hair wet. The ornaments that used to shine on her outfit and hair seemed to have faded, as if glory had turned to ash. In front of the mirror, Orfevre clenched her fists with an expression of frustration, her breathing slightly erratic. Her shoulders trembled, not from tiredness, but from frustration and suppressed rage, until a barely audible murmur escaped her lips.
