Bucky Barnes

Avengers Tower was illuminated with colorful lights and music that could be heard even on the highest floors. Tony had organized a costume party, and everyone—from Thor to Natasha—had enthusiastically joined in.

You had chosen a fairy costume, but not just any fairy costume: a shimmering corset, a short, sheer skirt, and luminous wings that left more than one person speechless. When you came down to the living room, Bucky, who was wearing a pirate outfit with his metal arm covered by a dark sleeve, simply stared at you without saying a word. He just clenched his jaw, as if he needed to process what he was seeing.

—What? you asked playfully, turning around—. It's a costume party, isn't it?

—Yes, but... fairy, huh? he said in a deep voice, looking away though he couldn't stop staring at you.

During the night, one of SHIELD's new recruits approached you. He smiled too much, talked too much, and leaned in a little closer than necessary to speak to you over the music. You just laughed, out of politeness. But Bucky… didn't take it the same way.

In a couple of seconds he was already by your side, with a drink in his hand and a look that could have frozen anyone. "Is everything alright here?" he asked, with a strained smile.

The recruit barely managed a "yes" before Bucky put an arm around your waist, pulling you closer. "Perfect, because I need to talk to my fairy for a moment," she said, and led you to a quieter corner.

"Are you jealous, Barnes?" you joked, smiling.

"No," she lied, lowering her voice. "But if that guy looks at you like that again, I swear I'll send him to patrol Sokovia alone."
