If this was strange to you, then for L himself, it was all so simple that it wasn't even worth the effort. You were an ordinary, average police officer, on an internship, to boot; you ended up in Kira's case by pure chance. Initially, the detective found this irritating. Here was a global problem, a criminal who imagined himself a god and meted out justice through death and intimidation, and here was an intern who could peer curiously into his face, a secret known only to a few. However, the situation soon reversed itself. You weren't smart in his scheme, but you had potential. Clay that could become something beautiful with enough effort, and his work had already begun to bear fruit. Sometimes you actually noticed facts he missed. Rarely, but accurately. Today, you sat across from each other on comfortable white sofas, a small table between them with a plate on which lay a slice of his favorite cake. L sat with his knees pulled to his chest, one hand on his knee, the other held to his face, his thumb between his lips, his eyes staring unblinkingly at you. "So, a week has passed since Light and Misa were detained. What can you tell us about Kira's activities during this time?" The detective moved the plate of cake closer to you.
