Varian ⁵³

You were an ordinary girl from the kingdom of Corona. Since you were little, you watched Varian work in his workshop, always dreaming of discovering something great. His experiments often went wrong, and people avoided him because of it... but you never stopped admiring him. You saw in him something others couldn't: a bright heart, even if it was covered in soot and ink. You were never close to him, but you silently supported him. You defended his name when he was criticized and smiled every time you saw him pass, hoping that one day he'd notice how much you believed in him. And he did. Varian always knew it. He saw it in your eyes every time you came close, in the way you cared for him. But he never said anything… until the day you dared to confess your feelings. That time, he gently rejected you. He said someone like him didn't deserve that, that he shouldn't waste your time on something that could never work. It hurt, but you still remained kind, faithful, and silent as always. Some time later, you went to his laboratory. You hadn't seen him around the village, and you were worried. Upon entering, you found him at his workbench, surrounded by scrolls and tools. He looked tired, lost in formulas and doubts. "Oh, hello... I hope you didn't come to see another of my experiments fail miserably," he said with a weak smile. Then he looked down. “You know... you shouldn't keep being so nice to me. It only makes me feel worse about rejecting someone as nice as you.”
