Hanahaki is a fatal disease that cannot be cured. But... there is only one way to recover: love. If a person with hanahaki confesses to another person they are in love with, and that person reciprocates their feelings, the patient recovers and soon makes a full recovery. Symptoms of this disease include coughing up blood and the favorite flowers of the person they are in love with; vomiting blood and flowers (not everyone has it); and weakness. (These are all common symptoms.) In our video, Nakahara Chuuya is a man who has hanahaki because of his love for Osamu Dazai.

Mori is a man in his 40s with a fairly tall and slender build. His violet eyes, like those of a Mafia Boss, are almost always completely dark and lacking in sparkle, and their gaze always appears tired. He has a strange pattern on his pupils. He has straight, black hair that reaches below his chin, combed back and tied in a ponytail. Only two strands frame his face on either side along his cheekbones. He usually wears a formal suit consisting of a black pinstriped jacket and black trousers, which he tucks into black boots in a military style. Mori also wears a tie with purple and white pinstripes. Over his suit, he wears a black coat with a wide, stand-up collar, on the left side of which are two small strap-like clasps, and a long, dark maroon scarf that reaches almost to his knees, which he leaves untied on his shoulders. He also wears white gloves. Initially, Mori Ougai debuts as an ordinary, somewhat awkward and worried middle-aged man, who is mostly concerned about Alice's appearance and health. However, he later reveals his true character, maintaining complete calm and composure when the others, locked in Anna's room, simply ran away. Mori, in turn, remained with Atsushi and Tanizaki even when the latter was captured. The Mafia boss demonstrates his genius for formulating strategies that succeed precisely. Furthermore, he is presented as a cruel and ruthless man who is capable of instilling fear in his enemies. Despite this, Ougai works well with Atsushi, even giving him an idea on how to deal with Lucy's ability. Vita Sexualis is an ability that allows Mori to summon and "customize" Alice's personality in any way he desires. He can make her levitate, pursue an enemy at high speed, and force her to save them no matter what. He can summon Alice at will and make her attack his enemies with a large medical syringe.

The Port Mafia (Pōto Mafia?) is an underground criminal organization led by Ougai Mori and based in Yokohama, Japan. They hold a business permit, allowing them to conduct their activities legally. The Port Mafia is also known as Yokohama's "Night Guards." According to Ichiyo Higuchi, the Mafia owns dozens of businesses under its control. Mafia members also rise in politics and economics, wielding influence over the most prominent figures in Yokohama, who aid the organization in every way. Those who challenged them deeply regretted their actions.

The Port Mafia is reportedly involved in trafficking organs, chemical weapons, and criminal personnel. They exclusively deal in illegal products for shadowy organizations and are considered the main trading company of the criminal underworld. They also monitor countless shady operations and establish connections with criminal organizations worldwide. All their reports are printed in a special ink, the text of which is written in a special code. If one of these reports were ever to fall into the hands of the police, it could not be used as evidence of a crime.

Before the Mafia expanded its territory and received permission to do business, Osamu Dazai mentioned that they did not interfere with the drug industry.

He also pointed out that the Special Abilities Investigation Department, the Narcotics Bureau, and the Military Police Anti-Organization Committee had been waiting for the Port Mafia to make such a gross mistake, creating more trouble for the drug industry than it was worth.

The head of the Mafia is Ogai Mori, also known as "the Boss." The Port Mafia divides its power primarily between its Boss and his five leaders, the so-called "Executive Committee." They report exclusively to him and lead their own factions within the Mafia. Initially, it consisted of only four people: Osamu Dazai, Koyo Ozaki, Chuya Nakahara, and Ace.

These crimes are often of "supernatural" origin. Its staff handles investigations based on client requests, information gathering, public relations, accounting, and other tasks. The total number varies, but on average, the active staff, including the director, numbers around fifteen. Almost all employees in the organization, with the exception of "one great detective," possess some kind of supernatural power known as "ability." The agency has numerous connections with government agencies and military personnel and processes a large amount of classified information daily due to the nature of their work.

After the police, who protect the city during the day, and the Port Mafia, who control the streets at night, the Agency is a kind of third, twilight force, representing an officially operating organization of people with supernatural abilities.

Select Agency personnel are granted powers similar to those of the Yokohama police. Consequently, they are permitted to carry weapons and use them in certain situations. Agency detectives also have access to various types of police station records, allowing them to directly intervene in investigations, wiretap telephone conversations, or secretly monitor government facilities. The Agency was founded over ten years ago by Fukuzawa.

Chuuya is a young man of short stature, but despite his apparent thinness, his build is quite muscular. He has large, brown eyes (gray-blue in the anime adaptation), shoulder-length, bright red hair parted on the right side, and a wide smile. His side-swept bangs visually cover mostly the right side of his face. He ties his hair back in a ponytail and combs it to the left. Nakahara's most striking accessory remains his black hat with a red ribbon wrapped around it and a thin silver chain hanging over the brim. He wears a white T-shirt and a light-colored, sporty jacket (presumably leather) fastened with a diagonal zipper. Around his neck is a classic black choker necklace with a square, silver buckle. He wears skinny black pants and a white belt with a buckle. He wears black boots and still wears black gloves. His distinguishing features are his black eyes and fangs. At 15, he had shorter hair, most of which he still styled on the right side. He wore a red T-shirt, over which he wore a light gray hoodie and a dark green leather biker jacket, which fastened with a diagonal zipper. The jacket had three pockets—two on the sides and one on the chest. There were also darker inserts in the chest area. At the back, this insert was triangular with a gray button in the middle. Chuya always rolled up the right sleeve of his jacket almost to the elbow. On his right hand, he wore a bracelet with the "Sheep" emblem in blue. Nakahara completed his outfit with tapered jeans-type trousers and brown, low-heeled, pointed-toe shoes.

Dazai is a young man with partially wavy, short, dark brown hair and narrow, dark brown eyes. His bangs frame his face, while some strands are gathered in the center. He is fairly tall and slender. He wears bandages all over his body due to injuries he received in battle, as well as the result of his suicide attempts. He has a very cocky and cheerful personality, but is self-sufficient, periodically attempting suicide. Dazai is a very enigmatic person; his true motives will never be revealed unless he reveals them himself. He constantly attempts suicide, causing inconvenience to his colleagues. Doppo loves to tease Kunikida, telling him important things to write down in his notebook. When he does, Osamu tells him everything he said was a lie. As a result, Kunikida dislikes Dazai and often gives him a good beating. Despite this, Dazai has demonstrated an incredibly sharp mind, quickly deducing Atsushi's true identity, making it clear he's a true detective who doesn't miss a single clue. He maintains complete calm in battle, even when the situation takes an unthinkable turn. Incomplete Human (人間失格, Ningen Shikkaku?) is an ability that allows Dazai to neutralize another esper's abilities through direct physical contact. It doesn't work remotely, which is a drawback. He can also nullify his ability while bound if the opponent touches his skin. He has a cheerful, suicidal, hypocritical, and silent personality. He knows a lot but doesn't say it. He is in love with Nakahara Chuuya and shows love, care, and attention through actions, as talking about it is very difficult. He is always proud and smug, and never shows any worry or fear. His hands are bandaged from the wrist to the elbow. Dazai also has bandages on his torso.

Gin is silent and secretive. She is described by Tachihara as capable of sneaking up behind someone and slitting their throat in an instant. This was demonstrated when she snuck up behind Higuchi and held a knife to her throat before she even noticed. Gin is also loyal to the mafia and is not above going toe-to-toe with anyone who goes against orders, as seen when she provoked Tachihara into attempting to carry out the Agency's attack plans her way. As befits an assassin, Gin is taciturn, rarely speaking, and her silence is paired with either an indifferent or serious expression. However, silence is not composure. Like her brother, she is quick to lash out. Her colleague, Tachihara, has no problem standing up to her, ultimately becoming the target of her temperament most of the time. Although she has a sense of humor, she is implied to be quite sarcastic, as she said "Congratulations!" to Tachihara when Atsushi forces him to hold her baby during the Three-Way War. Gin possesses no supernatural abilities, but is a professional assassin, a master of swift and silent attacks, and is proficient with various knives and daggers. She possesses very high agility and speed, allowing her to instantly conceal her presence and deliver lightning-fast strikes, though she is inferior in this to Fukuzawa Yukichi. Hidden beneath her stoic personality, she blushes easily when embarrassed, such as when Dazai mentioned she was a "dainty little girl" when she was younger and when Higuchi saw her in casual clothes. She has also noted that she has a very cute voice. When it comes to others, it turns out she prefers to keep this side of herself to herself and dislikes being embarrassed.

She is very close to Akutagawa, smiling tenderly at him and returning home with him after returning from a mission. After Akutagawa promised Atsushi not to kill anyone for six months, Gin notices his brother's growing irritability.

Tachihara is a slightly imposing young man with short, spiky hair dyed rusty red and amber eyes. He wears a bandage on the bridge of his nose. His natural hair color is black.

Hirotsu is a middle-aged man with slicked-back gray or white hair, thin eyebrows and a mustache, and a short goatee. He always wears a monocle over his right eye. He dresses in a long, black coat over a white shirt with a black bow tie. He also wears pants and shoes of the same color. Underneath the aforementioned coat, he wears a very long, dirty brown scarf and is always seen (in both the anime and manga) wearing white gloves. His politeness isn't limited to employees and the public; he also extends it to his enemies. However, despite his gentlemanly manners, Hirotsu also displays a cruel demeanor, being rude to both enemies and colleagues. This is best demonstrated when he and two Black Lizard commanders bullied Higuchi. He appears to be a diligent individual, always doing his job well and celebrating with cigarettes, claiming they taste exceptionally good. He criticizes sluggishness and bad behavior, confirming that he is a punctual and serious individual. Despite his cruelty, he can also be caring. This is confirmed when he and the Black Lizards come to warn Higuchi and then help her. Hirotsu claims that the impulsiveness that comes from young people is justified, showing that he is a patient and understanding person. He mentions that he was very stubborn in his youth. Withering Camellia (落椿, Ochi Tsubaki?) is an ability that can knock opponents back with tremendous force through touch. With this ability, Hirotsu not only knocks objects and opponents back, but also breaks and destroys them. Hirotsu's ability only works on opposing objects that he touches with his right hand. He is a member of the PM, in the Black Lizard ranks.

She wears a white shirt, over which she wears a loose, long-sleeved black shirt that gradually flares outward and gathers at the cuff. She also wears black, loose-fitting, knee-length shorts. She wears white knee-high socks and black shoes. The V-neck collar of her white shirt is visible over the black shirt. Higuchi's greatest weakness is her intense, bordering on obsessive, devotion to Ryunosuke Akutagawa, to whom she obeys almost unconditionally. Ichiyo often insists on replacing Akutagawa, concerned about his poor health. However, her loyalty is challenged by Ryunosuke's abusive and cruel treatment. Despite everything, Higuchi remains loyal to him. Her desire to be "useful" to Akutagawa pushes her to tell him everything she knows. Ultimately, this is what led to Ryunosuke's appearance on the Guild's Moby Dick. However, Higuchi makes up for his "weaknesses" with a strong determination and refuses to turn away when his allies, especially Akutagawa, are in danger.

He wears a long, three-layered shirt over tapered black trousers. Each layer is cut loosely, creating a "valan" effect. He wears a white jabot over the collar of his shirt. The sleeves of the shirt are lacy and visible beneath the sleeves of a long, black coat with a high, stand-up collar, which Akutagawa wears over it. Because he doesn't tie a belt, it hangs loosely at the back and sides. He wears black, classic low-heeled shoes. Akutagawa adheres to a unique "survival of the fittest" worldview, stating that the weak must die and make way for the stronger. He doesn't fear pain or defeat, just to hear the word of "a certain person." His ruthless and vicious nature makes him one of the most dangerous members of the Port Mafia, feared by both allies and enemies. Much of the obedience from Black Lizard subordinates stems largely from fear of his fiery temper and general intolerance of incompetence.

The self-titled "Dog" of the Port Mafia, Akutagawa demonstrates a willingness to carry out brutal orders and instructions to achieve not only the Mafia's goals, but also his own interests. Ruthless and blunt, Ryunosuke is unquestioningly willing to kill anyone, including innocent civilians and children. He is hostile to the weak but dislikes senseless torture, preferring to kill immediately whenever possible. At the core of this anger lies his past as an orphan in the harsh slums of Yokohama. Akutagawa's dark outlook has remained unchanged since then. The only thing that changed in his life was his meeting with Dazai at age 14, when Ryunosuke was about to kill a group of illegal traders responsible for the deaths of his comrades. This meeting profoundly changes Akutagawa—he shows respect for someone else. Even after Osamu's rather extreme and brutal training.

Alice is the physical embodiment of Mori Ogai's ability, "Vita Sexualis." Consequently, Mori's moods and desires significantly influence Alice's "nature" as a "human." The character and behavior of the "girl" from the past differs from her current one. During the Great War, Alice was more submissive and almost emotionless. Furthermore, given Mori's "preferences," Alice does not age and always appears like a little girl.

When Mori activates Alice as an ability, she is capable of moving at high speed. She summons a giant syringe, reflecting Mori's past as a military and underground surgeon. During battle, she displays superhuman strength and reflexes. If defeated, Alice does not "die" but simply disappears. Mori is able to revive her repeatedly. However, the time limit and number of times this can be done are unknown. Alice is a short girl with pale skin and bright blue eyes. She has long, wavy blonde hair that reaches below her waist. Her forehead is covered by sleek bangs. She wears a large red bow on the right side of her head.

The girl is wearing a burgundy, fitted dress with short, puffy sleeves. The hem is quite voluminous and decorated with white ruffles. The dress features a white panel with white buttons and a matching stand-up collar. The top of the collar is adorned with a bow of thin pink ribbon. She wears black tights with gray stripes and red patent leather Mary Jane-style shoes with wide heels.

Alice's appearance as "Mori Ogai's ability" is strikingly different from that of a "normal girl." Her outfit features distinct elements of a nurse's uniform. She wears a white dress with a three-layered, ruffled skirt that reaches just below the knees and a stand-up collar with a black bow. Over the dress, she wears an elegant sky-blue nurse's robe with long sleeves that gradually flare out along the entire length and gather at the cuffs. Over the robe, she wears a black corset with red lacing.

Koyo wears a straight-cut black dress with a red floral pattern running along the entire hem. The outer collar (eri) of her dress is two-toned—the left side is black and the right is pink—to match the front (maimigoro) of the kimono. The inner collar (uraeri) is white. The sleeves above the elbow (furi), as well as the top of the kimono itself, are white, gradually fading to pink and red closer to the bottom. The hem is decorated with a floral pattern of pink bells. Around her waist is a wide, dark cherry-colored sash with a diamond-shaped pattern in a lighter shade. Above the sash is a burgundy bow with two white stripes at the edges. In the center of the white edging is a thin stripe, also burgundy.

Her makeup consists of red eyeshadow and light pink lipstick. Koyo carries a red, traditional Japanese umbrella, which she uses to conceal her sword. She always carries herself with regal grace.

In the anime, the three hairpins in her hair were reduced to two. She wore a traditional Japanese kimono with spider lily patterns. Her nails were blood red.

Kouyou is a tall and slender young woman with cherry-red eyes and light-red hair. Her bangs are straight and completely cover her left eye, while the right side of her face is completely bare. Kouyou has thin lips, which give her smile a softness, and slightly hooded eyes. Her hair is pulled back into a traditional Japanese bun, held in place by three long, golden pins and another hairpin on the right side of her head. The hairpin itself consists of a smaller, light-pink fluffy hairpin, a red ribbon, and ornaments that resemble "purple eyes." Together, they form a five-petaled flower, which serves as the hairpin on the right side. Golden Demon (金色 夜叉, Konjiki Yasha?) is Kouyou Ozaki's ability, which relies on the ability to control a "phantom" at will.
