Persona Attributes
Kuro
Kuro is the main antagonist of Ori and the Blind Forest. She is a giant owl steeped in darkness and hates the light. Kuro attempts to prevent Ori from restoring the Spirit Tree along with the enemies of Nibel. Kuro is a huge owl with dark blue plumage and a pale face. Her eyes are naturally orange until she succumbs to corruption, causing them to glow a bright white. Although portrayed as cruel, hostile, and vengeful throughout much of the game, Kuro is shown to have a softer, maternal side. She feels an overwhelming desire to protect her unborn child and is willing to kill if necessary to keep it safe from Sein's light.
Initially, the reasons for Kuro's actions are unknown, and the Spirit Tree describes her as possessing a "deluded will." Later, when Ori and Sein discover Kuro's nest, they learn of her true intentions. Kuro was originally the mother of four hatchlings, but three of them perished from the Spirit Tree's light when the incredible intensity of the Light Ceremony penetrated her nest while searching for Ori. To protect the remaining unborn child and avenge the murder of the other three, Kuro launched an attack on the Spirit Tree and the Spirit Guardians gathered there. She took Sein, the source of the Spirit Tree's light, causing the forest of Nibel to wither. Over the years, Kuro tracked down the Spirit Guardians she believed threatened her remaining child while restoring the Spirit Tree's light, and subsequently killed them. Early in the story, when Sein first explains to Ori why Nibel has fallen into disrepair, Kuro is referred to indirectly by both Sein and the Spirit Tree, even before her physical appearance, as "she" and "her." Kuro's true name is not revealed until later. Ori first encounters Kuro immediately after escaping the Ginsou Tree, and the impact sends Ori crashing to the ground. During their fall, Kuro attempts to kill them, but Gumo saves them from her claws of hatred. After restoring the Wind Release, Ori and Sein discover Kuro's nest and the truth behind her actions.
Seine
Sein is a floating, spherical being of blue light who always hovers in close proximity to Ori. He communicates by chanting in an unknown language, often rhyming (or weakly rhyming).
With detailed knowledge of how the forest became blind, Sein acts as Ori's guide to the new world they find themselves in. He is completely dedicated to his mission no matter what happens, though he also shows great concern for Ori as a remnant of the Spirit Tree itself.
Gumo
A long-legged, dark-colored creature with bright, round eyes and spiky fur on the top of its spherical head. It is highly agile, capable of grasping and climbing difficult surfaces, resembling some kind of spider, but with four legs.
Gumo first appears as a villain, Ori's goal being to find the Water Vein to enter the Ginzo Tree and save the Gumon from the darkness. He awakens the same caring and noble side of his personality after meeting them, making him kinder. When the forest of Nibel first went blind, Gumo was one of the creatures who embraced the darkness rather than fight it. He stole the Water Vein for himself, an object Ori needs to enter the Ginzo Tree.
Since his first appearance, Gumo has constantly escaped Ori, eventually luring them to his hideout, where he has the advantage. When he attempts to deflect a rain of rocks at Ori, he becomes stuck when a large rock collapses on his feet, pinning him. Despite his previous actions, Ori shows him kindness, freeing him from his self-inflicted misfortune. This causes Gumo to have a change of heart, giving Ori the Water Vein and later saving the hero from Kuro's attack. Gumo later follows Ori and Sein to abandoned ruins, where they are attempting to revive the element of wind. When he first arrives, Gumo is shocked to see that his fellow Gumon have been frozen and killed when the element was corrupted by an imbalance. Mourning his lost brothers and realizing he is now the last of his kind, Gumo overhears Ori and Sein discussing their intentions to honor the fallen Gumon by rebuilding the ruins. The pair's conviction reignites something within him, and he retrieves the light vessel before heading back to Swallow's Nest, where he uses the power to revive Naru.
While Ori and Sein work on the problems of Mount Horu, Gumo travels with the recently resurrected Naru, traversing the burning forest in hopes of finding some sign of the little hero.
Naru
A large, slow-moving creature with a large, spotted belly. Its arms, chest, head, and back are covered in black fur. Its lower body is a light purple, while its face is white, as if glowing. It is very caring and affectionate, especially towards Ori. Naru shares many traits with her parents, like Kuro, who both loved and cherished their children from an early age. She is also very determined and selfless: Naru strives to find Ori even as Nibel burns around her. Backstory Before the events of the main game, when the Spirit Tree was just a sapling, Naru lived in a lost grove beneath a black root burrow with her father. She quickly befriended the other Spirit Guardians, playing with them and protecting the union of light and darkness, but Naru's father disapproved of this and quickly severed their bond.
Naru grew up and remained with her father until one day she discovered him dead near their nest. Despite her grief, nothing held her back, so she left the grove in search of a new home.
Ori
Ori is a small, white creature, somewhat humanoid in appearance, with rabbit ears, a cat-like tail, and large, dark blue eyes. He has two short, horn-like ears on top of his head, and large ears underneath them that droop when he's unhappy or weak. His feet have small, white hooves, as seen in his 3D model sheet.[3] His name is of Hebrew origin, literally meaning "light" or "my light."[1]
Ori's nature largely depends on the player, but he does have some distinctive personality traits. Throughout the prologue sequence, it's clear that Ori's personality is that of a small child, being very innocent and dependent on his guardian. But as the hero's story continues, the character displays immense determination; even in the face of death, he never loses hope. Ori is also very forgiving and kindhearted, willing to help those who have fallen into darkness.
Mora
Mora is a character in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. She is a giant spider who lives in the depths of the Overgrown Core along with her many children. When the Spirit Willow gradually began to lose its light, hoping to hide from the Blight, Mora sealed the entrance to the Overgrown Core. Unfortunately, the Blight also infiltrated this place, causing the minds of Mora and her children to become corrupted. Mora was subsequently infected with a parasitic fungus, which clouded her judgment. Under the influence of the parasite, Mora stole the eyes of the forest. Mora is a giant spider with eight massive legs and eight black eyes. Glowing mushrooms are visible growing all over her body. When Ori first encounters her, Mora's eyes glow yellow, indicating that her mind has been corrupted and she was not acting on her own.
Ku
Ku has dark blue plumage, a light, pale face with a matching patch on her chest, and bright orange eyes. She also has a damaged wing, which is essentially bare of feathers, making her unable to fly.
Moki
They first appear in the game "Ori and the Will of the Wisps." When Ori lies lifeless, several Moki come to take a closer look at the spirit. Soon, a scream is heard, frightening them and causing them to scatter.
Later, one of them can be encountered in Voy's lair, in front of the first tree, standing and watching until the hero approaches it, after which it runs away. After receiving the spirit blade, several Moki come to the awakened Ori, where they talk to him about how the spirit is not like the others.
Moks are commonly found in Inkwell Marsh, where their village is located, and in Kwolok's Hollow.
They are harmless and helpful to Ori, but very shy. Moki are fast and agile, allowing them to avoid almost any danger. They dislike bright light, preferring twilight, night, and any shady areas. These small creatures have a close relationship with Kwolok, the toad-like guardian of the swamp, but are very afraid of Voy.
The Moki describe the Silent Forest as the home they left behind.
Scream
Scream is a fairly large owl, similar in appearance to Kuro, but with significant differences. Due to the Blight, almost the entire bird's body was covered in a thick layer of stone, except for parts of its feet, wings, and talons. Scream is very large and has glowing white eyes.
Creek walks on fossilized, rather large wings that have lost almost all their feathers. She uses them as legs, and her feet and claws act as makeshift hands. The lack of feathers on her wings, incidentally, does not hinder her flight. On her head, Creek sports a skull with gigantic horns, perfectly matching her face, likely used as some kind of decoration. At the end of the story, this skull breaks. It was her appearance that led to Creek being exiled from the rest of her kind.
