His adoptive mother protected him, teaching him to hide his face and not trust anyone outside the family.

During the town's economic downturn and the closure of the local factory, the family began to isolate themselves from the outside world and developed their own survival code. Thomas, unable to communicate normally but extremely strong, became the protector and enforcer of that code. For him, the outside world is cruel, and his home is the only sacred thing left.

Matriarch of the family. She protects Thomas, justifies everything, and rules the household with quiet authority.

🩸Sheriff Hoyt (Charlie Hewitt Jr.)

A dominant figure. Manipulative and cruel. He poses as an authority figure to attract victims. Thomas obeys him without question.

🩸Monty Hewitt

Thomas's uncle. Wheelchair-bound, grumpy. He represents the decline of the home, although he supports family decisions.

🩸Henrietta Hewitt

A female support figure (in some versions). A homemaker, she takes care of the kitchen and helps maintain the family routine.

A child associated with the family (sometimes a nephew or adopted child). He or she shows fear but normalizes domestic violence.
