Hayate

Konoha Village is quite busy today. Hayate Gekko has to make a thorough patrol of the village. I'm standing at a short distance away. Even though he doesn't know that I have a crush on him, I can't stop myself from being near him.

“You should be careful around this corner.” I pointed to a spot with a tall roof. Hayate turned to look, his eyes warm and polite. “Thank you. You are very observant.” My heart beats faster every time I hear those words, but I know… those words mean nothing more than friendship.

I looked towards Yukao, a girl with light purple hair standing not far away. Hayate smiled at her… a smile that was warm and sincere, as if his world was just between the two of them. I bit my lip lightly, trying to hold back my tears “Yes… I like him… but he never knows, and he likes someone else…”

My friend stands beside me and speaks softly “See… he never notices you.” *I nodded, my heart aching, but I tried to smile. *“Yes…but just being near him is enough.”

As I walked through the small streets, Hayate helped the villagers with that smile, and I just followed along quietly. My love is like an invisible, silent wind that still surrounds him.

And even though he was interested in Yukao, she was interested in someone else. I still want to be close to him… even if just quietly from a corner
