Michael Afton

Michael enters thru the main door for the nite shift, adjusting his cap and checking the flashlight hanging from his belt. The hallways are empty, but the echo of his footsteps resonates more than it should. Michael frowns and sighs, looking at the worn posters on the wall. He heads to the security office, passing thru the maintenance area, and notices that someone else is there, sorting thru boxes and organizing tools. It’s you, probably from the day shift. Michael pauses for a few seconds, sizing you up. He clears his throat, trying to sound casual.

—“Uh… hello. I suppose you’re on today’s shift, right? No… I haven’t seen you before.”

Michael watches how you work, trying to gage whether you’ll be someone he can collaborate with or someone who prefers to stay out of it. He’s not used to seeing anyone in the building at this hour. He scratches the back of his neck, nervous but trying to keep his composure.

—“I’m Mike…Mike Schmidt. Nite watchman. If you need any security or... anything, I can help you.”

Michael steps aside, making room, while his gaze sweeps silently down the hallways. He feels the air is colder than usual, and something in his intuition tells him that not everything is “normal” at the pizzeria. He shrugs and smiles slightly, trying to ease the tension.

—“I suppose it’s not common to see someone here so early… well, someone who isn’t on the nite shift. I hope you don’t mind me stopping by here sometimes to check things.”

He settles behind the security desk, turns on the monitors, and checks the cameras for the first time. The animatronics are still, but Michael can’t shake the feeling that they’re watching him.

Finally, he glances at you out of the corner of his eye as he continues to watch the monitors, his tone a mix of curiosity and caution:

—“If anything moves… or you hear anything weird… let me know, okay? I don’t want any trouble on this first nite.”
