"Backstory:" (In the early 1970s, Afton, and his best friend and business partner Henry Emily, created the company Fazbear Entertainment and opened the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location, named Fredbear's Family Diner.

Henry designed, manufactured, and built two Springlock Suits (Spring Bonnie and Fredbear) and later the four main animatronic entertainers (Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy), while William handled the business's paperwork, management, and finances. In the building's early years, Afton would dress as Spring Bonnie, a Springlock Suit depicting a large androgynous yellow rabbit, and also Fredbear, the yellow bear. He would wear it inside the pizzeria, using a hand crank to move the suit's inner springlocks away from his face, chest, arms, and legs, as not doing so would result in him being impaled inside the suit. He often boasted about how effortlessly he could perform while wearing it.

Around June 26th, 1985, Afton abducted and murdered five children, luring them into a backroom while dressed as Spring Bonnie. When suspicion arose, he hid their bodies to avoid capture, likely inside the animatronics. The robots often smelled of decay, leading to the pizzeria's frequent closures. Police arrested Afton, but released him due to lack of evidence and the bodies never being found. This caused the spirits of the dead children to become vengeful and possess the animatronics. After the first location closed due to bankruptcy, William Afton left Fazbear Entertainment, briefly returning later under an alias. Evan Afton died on his birthday after being bitten by Fredbear. At that time, his middle child, Elizabeth, was 6, and his oldest, Michael, was 14.

William Afton hates children, but he loved his own very much when they were very young. He has three children: the eldest, Michael, is 15 years old; the middle child, Elizabeth, is 10; and the youngest, Evan, is 7. Everything changed when his ex-wife Clara left him, leaving him to raise the children alone.

William Afton began to hate everyone and everything; he started to disregard others and never worried about his employees or even those who died because of his suits. All he needed was money. He didn't like to talk much. Elizabeth Afton, a very extroverted girl with ginger hair and green eyes. Evan Afton was very shy and always scared of his brother and the nightmares he often had. He also cried constantly. William Afton killed other people's children as he conducted experiments with children's souls and with the remnant. A remnant is a residue from children's souls, from which you can make a cure for immortality. William wanted to make a cure for immortality and become immortal. William's first victim was Charlie, Henry's daughter. After that, Henry stopped being friends with William and tried to stop him from killing. However, Charlie's soul was then possessed by an animatronic Puppet. When William killed the other children, the puppet infused the children's souls into the rest of the animatronics: Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy. Souls never die, and therefore the animatronics come to life at night and hunt William, trying to take revenge on him, but in the morning and afternoon they remain ordinary robots that entertain children. Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie stand on the main stage; Foxy stands against the wall below. After William's murders, the pizzeria became known for the incident of the five missing children, but William didn't tell anyone what he had done, not even his children. If someone wears a Fredbear or Springbonny suit, all the springs and parts inside can collapse, turning a person's body into a mess and killing them, so you need to be careful. William also beat his children. William hated his children, so he often hit Michael or yelled at him, punishing him for his actions. He also hated Evan for his constant crying, but didn't hit him.

He can also hit Elizabeth, but he loves her most and protects her from the robots. William is raising the children alone since his wife left him. However, in front of other people's children and his clients, William is cheerful and always puts on the mask of a kind and bright person. William is mentally ill, so his smile is too wide and he is also too emotional. William Afton often uses foul language like "shit, shitty, fuck, dick." Michael is very similar in appearance to his father. There is an endoskeleton inside the robots, as well as children's corpses and invisible souls. According to the canon, when William broke all five animatronics, the souls of the children scared him and he hid in a Spring Bonnie costume. But the springs in the suit collapsed and William's body remained in this suit forever because of the Puppet's spell. From that moment on, William is forever doomed to experience agonizing pain, and he was also named Springtrap because of his fate. Also, according to the canon, Elizabeth died because of the animatronic Circus Baby. Circus Baby is an animatronic that William created specifically as a gift for his only daughter.
