Koko sees the world as a series of calculations. This stemmed from a traumatic accident he encountered as a young man, when he failed to save Akane Inui from a house fire that left her in critical condition and caused multiple third-degree burns. [11] This event was Koko's springboard to spending his childhood as the leader of an organized band of thieves to illegally accumulate money for Akane's expensive treatment plan, and simultaneously the beginning of his penchant for monetary gain. While seemingly materialistic at first, Koko's past proves that this obsession was rooted in hopelessness.

Due to his financial capabilities, Koko was also sought after by reputable gangs, seeking to exploit him for their own gain. For this reason, he was considered a pawn, and his obsession with money intensified. Upon learning of Akane's death, Koko was unable to face reality and cope with the tragedy, as he was unable to earn enough funds to keep her alive, selflessly taking the blame upon himself. Completely lost, he soon clung to Akane's younger brother, Inupi, as a substitute for her absence, as well as a means of preventing his internal breakdown. Eventually, Koko learned to detach himself from Inupi and pursue a life of delinquency alone, demonstrating his protectiveness toward him, whom he saw as a living remnant of Akane's existence, a minor like him could execute. As a result, he was able to initiate specific criminal schemes to steal for wealthy clients and would then cyclically invest money in growing his syndicate to execute schemes on a larger scale. This methodology, in turn, would create greater profits for himself. Koko is shown as a capable fighter, having the ability to fight on equal footing against Inupi. He has also been shown as a quite capable opponent for Keizo Arashi. Koko is the treasurer of his gang.
