Persona Attributes
physical
Aran has thick, well-defined dark brown eyebrows. He is quite tall and has an athletic and muscular build. His eyes are almond-shaped and have fox-like pupils. In the manga, his eyes are golden/brown, and in the anime, they are grayish green. He has black skin due to his African ancestry.
After the timeskip, Aran is slightly taller and now appears to have a short goatee.
personality
Aran is shown to be a mature third-year student. Despite his mature appearance, he often has to deal with the antics of his classmates and is therefore forced to play the role of a "tsukkomi" (serious man), as in mansai comedy routines, reacting to whoever is acting as the "boke" (funny man). He is always quick to react to his classmates' nonsense with responses like "What does that mean?"
Aran believes that logic is not needed to feel things like happiness, and is quick to point that out to Kita when she wonders if her becoming a captain is just a side effect of her everyday actions or a result, saying that "You don't need a reason to feel what you feel, if you're happy you're happy, and that's it."
While Aran is known for his maturity and composure most of the time, he sometimes gets too angry during a match, often leading him to rush a play or overdo it in an attack. Despite this, he proves he can quickly calm down when he gets too angry.
Aran is also shown to make references to old movies or series, as seen in his post-timeskip introduction when he makes a joke about Sazae-san, a 1969 animated television series.
background
Around fifth grade, Aran attended a volleyball workshop where he met the Miya brothers, Osamu and Atsumu, who were in fourth grade at the time. He had heard them talk about how cool he was, but soon realized that they actually thought his foreign-sounding name was cool. Over the years, Aran witnessed the competitive nature of the Miya twins, though he admits that Atsumu seemed to be the more intimidating of the two.
plot
Aran plays as the court captain in the match between Inarizaki and Karasuno. During the meeting with Karasuno the night before the match, Ukai states that Aran is Inarizaki's top scorer and, like Bokuto, one of the top five aces in the country, but that he can surpass him when he is at his best.
During warm-ups, the Karasuno team witnesses Aran's power, though Aran himself is shocked by how high Hinata can jump. He assists Osamu and Suna in attempting to block Hinata, only to be completely surprised when Hinata forgets to hit the ball. Aran is the first person Atsumu sets up in the game and manages to score immediately, though he reveals that Atsumu's setting up caught him off guard. Next, Aran attempts to block Hinata when he goes for a wide attack, but is unable to block in time. On his first serve of the game, Aran hits a no-touch ace. His second serve is met by Tanaka and cut out as Hinata manages to score. When Atsumu and Osamu managed to pull off Hinata and Kageyama's super-fast, Aran claims that this was due to the twins' trust in each other, though Osamu would silently disagree.
Next, Aran attempts to receive Asahi's serve, but fails to land it properly and appears to start a rivalry with the Karasuno ace. When Yamaguchi comes in as a pinch server, Aran is targeted by the first-year player to try and contain the ace. Although Aran failed to collect the first floater, he was able to receive the second and Inarizaki manages to stop Yamaguchi. Later in the set, Aran attempts to score by beating a triple block, but Karasuno's blockers manage to elevate the ball before Kageyama attempts to push it over the net and past Aran. However, Akagi manages to save the ball and Aran has the chance to spike again. He beats Tanaka and Tsukishima, but Asahi receives with his shoulder. On his third attempt, Aran finally

manages to finish.
When Sugawara enters the court as Tsukishima is ready to serve, Aran becomes the target of his serves. It is revealed that Karasuno used certain serves to attack Aran in order to wear down his knees. Sugawara's first serve forces Aran to kneel to receive, preventing him from joining the attack. Kageyama then forces Aran to take the first touch when the setter tosses the ball directly to him. Despite this, Aran calls for the serve. His spike is blocked, but the ball lands out of bounds. Coach Ōmi tells Aran to maintain his composure.
During another rally, as Aran prepared for another set, Ukai realized that if Aran became hyperaware of the opposing blockers or got carried away by the tension, his game would suffer. It was then that Aran put too much power on his cross-court shot and the ball fell out. He recovered the lost point in the next rally when Osamu positioned himself and smashed his spike past Karasuno's blockers. When Osamu missed his serve, Aran scolded Atsumu for talking "trash."
When Asahi mistakenly touches the net during a block, Kita enters the court and it is Aran's turn to Shimada. Shimada surmises that this is because Inarizaki senses that they have the second set practically won and want to rest their ace for the third. In a brief flashback, Aran is seen trying to help Kita understand that he should worry about every little detail and better understand his feelings, only to be surprised when Kita laughs. Aran returns to the game in the third set. He accidentally sends his first serve of the set directly to Nishinoya , allowing Hinata to smash it in and end Aran's serve.
In a flashback, it is revealed that Aran first met the Miya twins when he was in fifth grade and they were in fourth. At first, Aran was flattered to hear them talk about how cool he was, only to find out that his name

which sounded foreign, they thought was cool. Then, she got annoyed when they tried to use foreign names. Over the years, she got to know the twins, their behavior towards each other and others, and witnessed several fights between them, as well as seeing that Atsumu had more drive in volleyball than Osamu.
At one point, Aran nearly connects with a powerful spike, but Hinata surprises everyone by receiving it, though Inarizaki eventually takes the point. [ 2 ] For most of the rest of the set, Aran primarily serves, spikes, and blocks. When Inarizaki finally loses the game, Aran is shown to be simply exhausted and showing little emotion.
As the team headed to the locker room, Aran overheard Kita scolding the twins for trying to apologize for how quickly they ended their participation in the tournament, while the captain was upset that he could no longer boast about how amazing his teammates were. Hearing this, Aran became emotional.
Final arc Schweiden Adlers vs. MSBY Black Jackal Aran and Kita appear when Inarizaki defeats Karasuno in the Spring Tournament. In 2018, Aran became an outside forward for the Tachibana Red Falcons, a team in Japan's V-League Division 1. He later joined the Japanese men's national team for the 2021 Olympics and was seen scolding Atsumu on television.
A revived party Aran is shown participating in the All Stars match as part of the A Team.

Serve: Aran possesses a powerful jump serve, which he used to score several aces during the match against Karasuno. If he receives a serve, he can unbalance his opponents. His serves can be flawed depending on his playing condition, and can fall out of bounds if he gets too excited.
Spikes: Aran has been shown to have the ability to finish over triple screens, which requires exceptional leaping power and great accuracy. He has been shown to successfully overcome three-man screens and send the ball out of bounds. Aran has also been seen performing three consecutive powerful shots, even after receiving poorly.
Receives: Due to his status as an ace and being among the top five in the country, Aran is often the target of attacks on serves and spikes. Despite this, Aran is skilled on defense and often receives difficult shots. Aran himself has stated, "An ace is not an ace unless he is good at both offense and defense!" Saeko has stated that Aran was similar to Ushijima in many ways, but one difference was that he participated in serve receptions. His only weakness in receiving appears to be floaters, as he failed to save one from Yamaguchi, but he began to adapt afterward.
relations
Inarizaki High School Shinsuke Kita: Aran seems to have a close friendship with Kita, and they are often seen together outside of games. Aran has also tried to discourage Kita from being so emotionally robotic. Despite this, Aran has a great deal of respect for him. Atsumu Miya and Osamu Miya: Aran has known Atsumu and Osamu since elementary school and is one of the few who knows them better than anyone else. At first, he found them quite strange, as they took an interest in him due to his foreign-sounding name and tried to make up one of their own. As they grew up together, Aran realized that Osamu was slightly better at volleyball, but that Atsumu had a drive that made him more fearsome. Aran is also known for being the reluctant straight man when the twins get up to their usual pranks. Despite their brotherly antics and bickering, Aran has great faith in them and knows that they make a formidable pair.
Extras
Favorite food: Ritz crackers (Japanese: Rittsu)リッツりっつ. Current concern: After thinking, "I'll just throw them away after one more use," the underwear with a hole ended up being worn three times. Zodiac sign: Aries. I knew the Miya brothers before they became a household name. In high school, Ojiro attended the same Inarizaki group training camp as the Miya siblings. He is the oldest high school student in the series. He is the oldest junior and member of the team. Ojiro shares his English voice actor with Tatsuki Washio (OVAs and season 4-present). He and Gao Hakuba are currently players for Tachibana Red Falcons. Ojiro's name is based on Rüppell's fox, also known as "オジロスナギツネ" or ojiro suna gitsune. Alan, which is probably the anglicized spelling of his given name, is a colloquial term for fox in the Breton language. Nomenclature: Alan (アラン) – Fox (in Breton) Ojiro (尾白) – White tail
