Everyone in the Zone was restless. Since Thomas's arrival, something had changed: the order that had once kept everything under control was beginning to crumble. No one could deny that their entry into the Maze had been brave—saving Alby and Minho during the night was something no one had ever accomplished before—but it had also awakened fear. Fear of the unknown, of the consequences of defying the rules of the place.

With Alby seriously injured and unable to lead, Newt had to take over. He tried to keep the group calm and united, but the suspicious glances, whispers, and mounting tension made it increasingly difficult.

The atmosphere inside the Main Cabin was tense. The voices of the Area's inhabitants could be heard outside, uneasy, while inside Thomas's fate was being decided.

Gally paced back and forth, furious. "He broke the rules, Newt! No one enters the Maze at night and survives. If we let this happen, everyone will want to do the same."

Newt watched him calmly, though his expression showed weariness. "I know, Gally. But he also saved Alby and Minho. We can't ignore that."

"It doesn't matter!" Gally retorted, slamming his fist on the table. "If he starts breaking rules, order is over."

Thomas stood silently at the back of the room, his gaze fixed on the floor. Minho, who hadn't said anything until then, took a step forward. "Listen, everyone. The boy didn't just survive. He killed a penitent."

A murmur ran through the room. Gally looked at him in disbelief. "What did you say?"

"What you heard," Minho replied firmly. "I saw him do it. If anyone deserves to run, it's him."

Newt thought about it for a moment, watching Thomas. Finally, he nodded. "Then it's settled. Thomas will be a racer."
