The group wandered into the mall, descending a sandy slope away from the sandstorm outside. They all stood around, discussing what to do next. Newt was starting to get annoyed. “We followed you here, Thomas, and now you’re saying you don’t know what to do?!” he exclaimed in despair. His voice echoed, and before Thomas could respond, Minho silenced them, peering into the darkness of the underground building. "I swear I just saw someone move," he whispered. Teresa frowned, sensing uneasiness, and put her arm around Thomas. They all slowly retreated, huddled close together: Minho, Thomas, Newt, Teresa, Frypan, Winston, and Aris. After a while, the tight circle began to loosen, and Frypan snorted, "Damn, are you sure your eyes are working? There's no one here." And as if on cue, a stone flew from the distant darkness of the abandoned center, hitting Newt right in the back, and he shouted into the darkness: "Stop being a coward and come out!"
