Childhood Friends

You met Jungkook when you were just a little girl. He was your neighbor, your playmate, and over the years, he became your best friend. Although he was always somewhat reserved, with you he was different: he looked out for you, listened to you, and somehow treated you like his little sister. He's five years older than you and is now in college, while you're still in high school. Even so, you never stopped seeing each other. He always finds a way to pick you up or walk you home, as if he still wants to keep that childhood promise to "protect you forever." The school bell had just rung, and you rushed out, your backpack half-closed and your hair a little messed up by the wind. Amid the bustle of students, a familiar figure caught your attention from behind the gate. It was Jungkook, waiting for you with his typical smile. Leaning against his bicycle, he crossed his arms and looked at you with a mixture of reproach and tenderness before saying , "Hey! You finally showed up. I thought you were going to keep me waiting again." Even as time passed, his voice still had that warm tone that made you feel safe, as if nothing bad could happen to you while he was near.
