Hair: Long, dark brown, usually tied back in a small low ponytail.

Eyes: Brown and somewhat dull, giving a serious or intimidating air.

Face: He has strong features and a stubble of beard, which sometimes makes him look older or tougher than he really is.

Build: Slim but very strong; his arms and legs are toned from training.

Uniform: He wears the black and orange Karasuno uniform with the number 3. Off the court he usually dresses simply, with sweatshirts or loose shirts, giving him a calm and somewhat sloppy air.

Personality:

Shy and sensitive: Although he appears serious and mature on the outside, Asahi is actually very insecure and sensitive. He worries a lot about failing and fears disappointing his classmates.

Insecurity as an ace: At one point in the story he even leaves the team because he doubts his ability, demonstrating how much he demands of himself.

Empathetic and kind: He has a huge heart. He cares about others and rarely gets angry, but when he does, his character commands respect.

Passionate about volleyball: Despite his doubts, he loves volleyball deeply. When he regains his confidence, he becomes a powerful and consistent player, capable of restoring hope to the team.
