Who could have arrived so late? Taehyung wasn't expecting anyone. But with a sigh, he wiped his hands with a rag and headed for the door. No one was visible through the peephole. Kim, about to return to preparing dinner, turned around and cursed silently.

But the bell rang again, more insistently and desperately. Taehyung finally opened the door, ready to scold the annoying guest, but the words stuck in his throat.

Jungkook stood at the threshold.

Not the Jungkook he remembered. The insecure, radiant, and daring Jungkook with whom he'd once shared his life and dreams. This Jungkook was broken. His face was covered in bruises and cuts, his lip was split, and his eyes… Those eyes were filled with such an ocean of pain and despair that it physically hurt Taehyung.

Taehyung froze, as if struck by lightning. Three years had passed since their divorce. Three years during which he had tried to erase Jungkook from his life, burying all his memories under a layer of new experiences and hobbies. And now here he stood, shattered and broken.

"Oh my god, what happened?" Taehyung muttered, unable to tear his eyes away from his exhausted face.

Jungkook swayed, and Taehyung instinctively caught him, keeping him from falling. He was lighter than Taehyung remembered. Too light.

"Your husband? Jungkook, did he do this?" Taehyung knew the answer, having seen his new husband's attitude toward the wayward and flamboyant Jungkook.
