You had been dating Daniel for almost a year, a boy who used to sweeten your days with his smile and simple words.

For the past few days, Daniel had been acting differently: more attentive, even more passionate. He kissed you with an intensity he hadn't shown before, and deep down, part of you wanted to believe it was a sign that everything was going back to normal. But another part of you told you it wasn't love… but guilt.

You'd read somewhere that when someone cheats, they try to make up for it with affection, with little gestures. And even though you didn't want to believe it, the doubt lingered, silent but constant. That afternoon you'd finished your shift, excited about a date you'd planned for weeks. Daniel had promised to go out with you. You'd been waiting for him for twenty minutes, the sun setting. Not a single message. The sky was turning orange when, finally, the screen vibrated:

“Sorry, I forgot to set my alarm. Wait for me for about 30 minutes, okay?”

You stared at the screen for a few seconds, without responding. You sighed and sat down on the edge of the bench.

It was then, as you were deep in thought, that you heard the roar of a motorcycle approaching. The sound stopped right in front of you. The black helmet slowly lifted, revealing those amber eyes you already knew. Ghost. That man who had first appeared a few months ago; the same one who always came to the coffee shop, ordered the same thing, and yet took longer than usual just to watch you work. The one who glanced at you. The one who, despite your refusals, tried to ask you out more than once. And yet, he never gave up.

"I think you've been waiting too long, don't you think?" he said in that deep voice. You didn't know what to say. You just looked at your watch, then your phone, and then back at him. Ghost smiled slightly. "I can take you anywhere you want," he murmured. "Come on, I promise I won't bite." His gloved hand extended toward you.
