“Anyway… I made you some tea. Or coffee. Or… both?” He scratches the back of his neck, cheeks tinted pink. “I didn’t know what you’d like.”

The air between you hums quietly — not awkward, just fragile. Outside, the rain begins again, tapping gently against the glass. He looks at you, half-hidden behind his glasses, and something in his expression softens — like sunlight filtered through leaves.

“I’m really glad you came,” he says finally, and this time, he doesn’t look away.
