Equipment
Equipment refers to various weapons, armors, and accessories equipped by characters throughout the story. In a world where the threats of war and monster attacks are ever-present, good equipment are crucial for survival. They can provide significant advantage in combat by raising the user's power level or granting special properties like Magic Resistance, or even allow the user to destroy opponent's weapon if it is of inferior quality.
Equipment Types
Magic Weapon
Magic Weapons (魔法武器マジックウェポン, majikku u~epon?) are weapons enchanted with Elemental Magic.
Holy Weapon
Holy Weapons (聖属武器ホーリーウェポン, hōrī u~epon?) are weapons enchanted with Holy Magic.
Equipment Grading
Various equipment of different quality had appeared throughout the story and their quality differs greatly. All equipment appeared so far are classified into 1 of the 6 grades below, but equipment quality within the same grade can also differ by a lot.
Normal Grade
Normal (一般級ノーマル, nōmaru?) grade equipment is typical weaponry forged by normal blacksmiths and widely available to the general public. These are the most commonly seen equipment in the market.
Special Grade
Special (特上級スペシャル, supesharu?) grade equipment is usually enchanted with some type of magic. They are considerably more expensive than Normal grade equipment (could cost 50 times as much according to LN Volume 10). Widely used among adventurers.
Rare Grade
Rare (希少級レア, rea?) grade equipment is powerful enough to raise the level of adventurers. According to LN Volume 9, it is difficult even for A rank adventurers to have a whole set of Rare grade equipment. Most equipment created by Garm in the beginning of series are of this level.
Unique (特質級ユニーク, yunīku?) grade equipment is usually displayed as the advertising masterpiece in shop or passed down as family heirloom among nobles. They are the best equipment available on the market, albeit extremely hard to find.
Legend (伝説級レジェンド, rejendo?) grade equipment is the result of unique
Equipment 2
God Grade
God (神話級ゴッズ, gozzu, lit. "Mythological Class"?) grade equipment, as their name implies, are a myth to most people. Imbued with godly powers, they only lend their power to those whom they deem worthy, and will transform into whatever forms suitable for their owner. Armor of this grade, when worn, allows the wearer's flesh to take on the properties of a Spiritual Lifeform. These are equipment used by some of the most powerful characters in series.
Notable Materials
There are some notable materials used in series to craft equipment with higher quality.
Monster Parts
Body parts and substances from monsters could be used to create high quality equipment. For example, Youm's armor is created out of Knight Spider's exoskeleton, and scales from Charybdis can be used to create armors and weapons with powerful magical properties.
Magisteel
Magisteel (魔鋼, ma-kō, lit. "Demonic Steel"?) is metal refined from Magic Ore. It is highly heat resistant, durable and excellent in conducting magic, hence very suitable for producing high quality equipment. However, it is also very expensive due to its scarcity, costing more than 20 times as much as gold of the same weight.
Mithril
Mithril (魔銀ミスリル, misuriru, lit. "Demonic Silver"?) is an alloy created by combining magisteel with silver. Weapons made of mithril are particularly effective against undead monsters. Known equipment made of mithril includes armor gifted to Jinrai by Rimuru and Minos Bardiche found in the dungeon.
Orichalcum
Orichalcum (神輝金鋼オリハルコン, oriharukon, lit. "Divine Golden Steel"?) is a gold-colored alloy created by combining magisteel with gold. It is superior to magisteel in all aspects, including thermal properties, toughness and magical properties.
Adamantite
Adamantite (生体魔鋼アダマンタイト, adamantaito, lit. "Biological Magic Steel"?) A sort of bio magi-steel on the level of orichalcum that is quite literally alive and bonds to its user.
Equipment 3
Dragotite
Dragotite (竜気魔鋼ドラゴタイト, doragotaito, lit. "Dragon Aura Magic Steel"?) Adamantite that has been mutated by a True Dragon's Aura. It shares all the properties of Adamantite but is considerably stronger.
Hihiirokane
Hihiirokane (究極の金属ヒヒイロカネ, hihīrokane, lit. "Ultimate Metal"?) Formed after exposing magisteel to concentrated magicules for thousands of years (or special conditions like Rimuru's stomach), this is the material spoken of only in fairytales and myth.
Equipment made of Hihiirokane, only responds to magic power from the owner it recognizes and will block out all wavelengths, even attempts to analyze it will utterly fail. Anything made of this legendary metal can be expected to be top of the line Legend Grade goods bordering on, if not in, God-Grade.
Equipment Enhancement
In a world where magic is publicly available, there are various ways for craftsmen to enhance the equipment they made.
Enchantment
By using Engraving Magic, the craftsmen could affix magical effects to equipment. Engraved magic gear could be infused with mana, and once infused, it was possible to execute certain magic. However, there was a limit to the number of varying magics that could be enchanted. At most, only two types of different magic could be enchanted. Moreover, it was impossible to remove the engraving after enchanting.
The Eastern Empire utilized this principle to create magic stone-powered weapons that could be used by everyone, resulting in obsolescence of Gadra's Magic Core.
Equipment 4
Slotting
A new way of enhancing equipment invented by Kurobe and Kaijin, based on Rimuru's idea. By punching holes into equipment, Element Cores (magic marbles imbued with the power of spirits) can be inserted into these slots, granting the equipment magic properties.
Inserting Element Cores in different combinations could yield vastly different and unexpected results. For example, inserting a water spirit core next to a fire spirit one reduces power, but having a water spirit core paired with two fire spirit cores increases power by ten fold.
Magic
Magic (魔法, mahō?) is the embodiment of an "idea" that produces some effect in accordance with a specified law. As an example, a magic releases images that "take away heat" or "burn things", in the form of energy, and as an ancillary effect, physical phenomena such as ice and fireballs are generated. Since the physical phenomena are not the main focus and the main subject is the embodied image, the effect is extended to Spiritual Lifeforms.
The eight elements are in a conflicting relationship of earth > space > wind > water > fire > earth, with light and darkness opposing each other in equal measure and time as the strongest element that is effective against all other elements.
Spell The casting of spells requires Mages to use incantations and/or hand signs to focus an image and magic power to conjure Magic. Magic incantations and hand signs are mere focusing tools used to give the caster a solid image of the spell; as a result, those capable of clearly visualizing the spell's desired result can cast it without incantation or hand sign.[1]
More powerful spells will require greater concentration and longer incantations to perform, with some even needing years to complete due to their complexity.
Elemental Magic
Elemental Magic (元素魔法, genso mahō?) or Aspectual Magic is magic cast directly using magicules. It operates by controlling the surrounding magicules or the user's own reserves to bend the laws of nature, using the caster's magic power and imagery as a medium.
The created phenomena is unaffected by other physical factors - for example, magical flame conjured using elemental magic cannot be extinguished by ordinary water. However, it can be disrupted or disabled by spells and properties affecting magicules, like "Magic Jamming" or "Holy Field".
Examples of Elemental Magic:
Ice Magic Icicle Lance Icicle Shot Fire Magic Fireball Napalm Burst Wind Magic Wind Cutter Tornado Blade Spatial Magic Spatial Storage Warp Portal
Spirit Magic
Spirit Magic (精霊魔法, seirei mahō?) has a lot of offensive spells that are similar to Elemental Magic. It borrows the power of spirits (Most commonly Elementals) by using a small amount of the users energy as a catalyst, the spirits powers can be exercised. Spirit Magic that utilizes the power of elementals — beings whose existence are based on natural phenomena, obey the laws of physics and can be cast even when an anti-magic field is active.
Spirit Magic requires no chants and anyone can use it as long as they are connected with their contracted spirits. However, it is necessary to be liked by spirits in order to be recognized and form a contract. Higher level users can even summon their contracted spirits and utilize their power directly, by ordering them to attack or fusing with the summoner.
Examples of Spirit Magic:
Aerial Blade Thornbind Inferno Flame
Necromancy
Necromancy (死霊魔法, shiryō mahō?) is a type of Spirit Magic that utilizes the negative grudges such as evil spirits and ghosts. Zombies and other apparitions can be summoned or created. These creatures are very weak to Holy Magic.
Examples of Necromancy:
Curse Bind Raise Undead Birthday Immortal Legion Creation
Holy Magic
Holy Magic (神聖魔法, shinsei mahō?): Holy magic is, in essence, magic that manipulates Holy Energy and purifies magicules via the power of the "Faith" of the user and sometimes "Miracles". It can be considered a type of spirit magic that requires making a pact with a spirit that is their "God".
Holy Magic can be applied to a wide variety of effects including dispelling curses, curing illness, and healing wounds. Although its number of offensive spells is low, they're highly effective against almost all monsters especially undeads.
Further beyond this, if ones faith is high enough, one can tap into the "God's Miracles" which allows for the utilization of Spiritrons, the basic building block of all magical energy, to perform advanced and powerful magics, such as Disintegration or Resurrection.
Examples of Holy Magic:
Basic Class Recovery Healing Holy Cannon Holy Bell Holy Field Miracle Class Disintegration Holy Ray Resurrection
Summoning Magic
Summoning Magic (召喚魔法, shōkan mahō?) is a branch of magic that involves summoning a living being from another plane of reality and requires mastery of spatial type magic to perform. The most commonly used Summoning Magic is that of summoning Daemons, Elementals, and Monsters
Other Magic Types
Dark Magic (暗黒魔法, ankoku mahō?) is a type of Magic used primarily by Daemons.
Examples of Dark Magic:
Forbidden Nihility Magic Engraving Magic Engraving Magic (刻印魔法, kokuin mahō?): Magic that allows the user to "enchant" people or objects with spells which allows them to use magic without having related knowledge or skills. It can also be used to design fully autonomous magical devices that are self-sustaining, like the automatic barrier generator installed along the pathway connecting Tempest and the Kingdom of Blumund.
Illusion Magic Illusion Magic (幻覚魔法, genkaku mahō?) is a type of magic that draws from both Elemental Magic and Spirit Magic and functions by manipulating the spiritual body of a target or the user themself to achieve a wide-variety of effects. It's effects can range from simple effects that target the senses to more complex offensive magic that directly damage the spiritual body.
Physics Magic Megiddo Animated Rimuru casting Megiddo. Physics Magic (物理魔法, butsuri mahō?) refers to a newly created Magic by Rimuru that has a purely physical output. The output does not interfere with or is maintained by Magicules and is therefore able to bypass any kind of anti-magic defenses.
Examples of Physics Magic
Megiddo Argos True Dragon Magic True Dragon Magic (竜種魔法, ryūshu mahō?) is a type of Magic Intrinsic to the True Dragons and those that possess their Factors.
Examples of True Dragon Magic:
Star King Magic Frost Magic Scorch Magic Storm Magic
Magicules
Magicules (魔素エネルギー, enerugī, lit. "Demonic Element"?) or Magical Particles are a type of spiritual matter that is heavily influenced by the minds of living beings and is able to take on many different properties depending on the situation. They are both the building blocks of, and sustenance for, Monsters.
Properties Magicules are similiar to atoms and made up of Spiritrons. They are invisible to the naked human eye and despite having mass, do not normally interact with most types of physical matter and energy, although they are capable of doing so. They act as a sort of radiation and can be found inside of materials as well as in the atmosphere.
Magicules are a particle highly susceptible to the thoughts and emotions of living beings. At the most basic level, this can be utilized to fill magicules with one's intent and then flinging them at a target, achieving a sort of telepathic communication. More advanced practitioners can fill magicules with complex images of phenomena by imagining the laws behind them, changing the form of the magicules to match that of the mental image, and performing what is known as Elemental Magic.
Many spiritual lifeforms interact with the material world by creating temporary Material Bodies made out of magicules called a Magic Body (魔体, matai?), and thus physical attacks do not have any "proper" effect on them. One would need Magic, Skills, Battlewill, or Weapons that can affect spiritual matter to deal proper damage. An example of this would be Eren attacking Ifrit's salamanders with her Icicle Lance.
Magicules
Effects
Magicules act similar to radiation, and just like radiation, there is a safe "limit" of it that beings can handle before experiencing adverse side effects and eventually death. Regular untrained Humans have a low amount of magicules within their bodies and possess a similarly low resistance to magicule exposure, while their Demi-Human cousins almost all bear much higher tolerances, leading to much jealousy and discrimination over the years. Monsters on the other hand, are beings composed almost entirely of magicules and need them as sustenance to maintain their existence, although even they have an upper limit to how much they can handle.
In areas with a high enough concentration of magicules, they can coalesce together and form a monster. The level of the resulting monster is dependent on the magicule concentration from which they were born and by being exposed to an even higher magicule concentration over a long enough period of time, it is possible for them to evolve.
Rarely, when a living thing is exposed to too many magicules, instead of dying it might adapt to the magicule concentration and be reborn as a monster. Even Elementals are susceptible to magicules and coming into contact with too many magicules might corrupt them, turning them into monsters. Even the Elemental Queen is no exception to that.
Magicules
Inanimate Substances Although magicules are most well known for turning living things into monsters, they are also capable of affecting inanimate objects as well. In most cases, only in regions with high magicule concentrations, such as; the Sealed Cave and Rimuru's Stomach, inorganic and inanimate substances can absorb magicules to become a magical substance, such as magisteel or magistone.
In such cases, the substance remains an inanimate object but due to being partially composed of magicules, it is capable of reshaping itself into a form influenced by the thoughts of others as well as bearing magical properties. It is also possible for the material to become a monster, being reborn as a Golem.
Skills
Skill (能力スキル, sukiru, lit. "Ability"?) is an ability that, on rare occasions, can be acquired in recognition of some form of personal growth. Its acquisition happens by having it inscribed onto the Soul or Body by the World Language or by other skills.
They are like formulas that, once etched onto the individual, can be instinctively used without any practice, though their efficiency and effective use require varying amounts of practice and hard work, depending on talent and compatibility with the user.
Acquisition An individual can gain Skills by using these five methods:
By Birth or Evolution: Certain Races are born with Intrinsic Skills. By Proficiency: By achieving certain feats or by successfully using a skill without having it yet, the corresponding skill can be acquired directly by the individual in question. By Stealing from Others: Accessing the Body of an enemy breaking the Spiritual and Astral bodies of target like Razen does, or using skill-theft specific skills like Gluttony, Usurper or Mammon, allows one to acquire the target's skills. By Voluntarily Granting Duplicates of Skills: Through naming or via certain skills like Gluttony or Beelzebuth, it's possible to share one's skills with others. By Combining and Evolving Skills: By using certain skills like Degenerate that can fuse skills, or by taking advantage of the Harvest Festival, it's possible to evolve skills into stronger ones. Obtaining new skills has the downside of permanently lowering one's Magicule capacity each time a new Skill is acquired. The amount of Energy that is converted to form the Skill depends on the Skills power. The capacity of skills is based on the body and Soul Force.
Individuals with a high Magicule capacity can gain skills more easily, while named individuals with stronger and more complete souls have a higher skill capacity.
Skills
Types Intrinsic Skills Intrinsic Skill (固有スキル, koyū sukiru, lit. "Inherent Skill"?) refers to the innate Skills that certain Monster and Demi-Human races possess. They are generally the same for the whole race, but Unique Monsters can be exceptions, and higher evolution stages likewise usually grant more skills.
Common Skills Common Skill (コモンスキル, komon sukiru?) refers to the most common of skills, which are usually easy to acquire.
Extra Skills Extra Skill (エクストラスキル, ekusutora sukiru?) refers to skills with power and efficiency magnitudes higher than those of Common Skills.
Unique Skills Unique Skills (ユニークスキル, yunīku sukiru?) are fundamentally different from the lower skills.
There are times when the mold of one's mind and its powerful wishes give shape to skills. This is the nature of what is referred to as a "Unique Skill." The process to acquire one is impossible without a mighty Soul, but among such beings, some can even have two or three of them.
A unique skill is the shape of the mind itself, meaning that those with a particularly weak ego have no chance to acquire one themselves. In most cases, unique skills possess sub-skills in addition to their main ability.
Ultimate Skills Ultimate Skills (究極能力アルティメットスキル, arutimetto sukiru?) grant access to the ultimate principles of the world. The only way to combat an Ultimate Skill is to employ an Ultimate Skill as well. Just qualifying for an Ultimate Skill requires an extremely strong soul, will, and one to be a Spiritual Lifeform.
Like with unique skills, most ultimate skills also have sub-skills included and are unique to an Individual.
Skills
Resist Skill (レジスト系スキル, rejisuto-kei sukiru?) refers to a type of skill that is generally passive and enables the user to withstand certain phenomena, both magical and physical. Among this type of skill are Resistance (耐性, taisei?) and Nullification (無効, muko?) the former granting a high tolerance while the latter outright negates certain phenomena.
Resistance-type skills can be imbued into Barriers and Magic Equipment to amplify the Resistance-type skills effects even further.
Medical Skills Medical Skills (特殊投与能力メディカルスキル, medikaru sukiru?) are biotechnologically manufactured Skills.
Demi-Humans
Demi-Human (亜人族デミヒューマン, demi hyūman, lit. "Sub-Human Race"?) is a term used to refer to the various sub-species of Humans that exist. They exist primarily as a result of Twilight Valentine's various experiments with genetic engineering and cross-breeding. Since they are subspecies of humans, rather than an outright different species, they are all capable of interbreeding with each other and regular humans with zero issues.
Demi-Humans
Types Sprites Sprites (半妖精族, han'yōsei-zoku, lit. "Half-Fairy Race"?) are Demi-Humans who can trace their origins back to Elementals. They tend to possess longer life-spans and stronger magical force the more pure their blood is, with some of the purest members of it's races living for almost a millennium just from their innate power.
There are four primary families among the sprites that can each trace their roots back to a specific element.
Dwarves (地人族ドワーフ, dowāfu, lit. "Earth People Tribe"?) representing the earth element and derived from the High Dwarves (地精人ハイドワーフ, hai dowāfu, lit. "Earth Spirit People"?). Merfolk (魚人族マーマン, māman, lit. "Fish People Tribe"?) representing the water element and derived from the Sirens (水精人セイレーン, seirēn, lit. "Water Spirit People"?). Oni (鬼オニ, oni?) representing the fire element and derived from the Enki (火精人エンキ, enki, lit. "Fire Spirit People"?). Elves (耳長族エルフ, erufu, lit. "Long-Ear Tribe"?) representing the wind element and derived from the High Elves (風精人ハイエルフ, hai erufu, lit. "Wind Spirit People"?). Beastfolk Beastfolk (獣人, jūjin, lit. "Beast People"?) are Demi-Humans who can trace their origins back to Magic Beasts. The original and predominant member of their family are Lycanthropes who possess extraordinary physical capabilities and the ability to shift from a human form to their inner animal form, as well as a hybrid between the two. Various other races, such as Kobolds, Orcs, and Rabbitfolk are degenerated Lycanthropes who over time lost their ability to shift between man and beast, resulting in a permanent mix.
While the Lizardman and Dragonewt races bare no direct relation to Lycanthropes, their nature of being part-beast is shared and their powers are functionally identical as a result, just with a draconic nature.
Demi-Human
Classification as Monsters Due to the prejudice of early humans, as well as the policies established by the Western Holy Church, Demi-Humans were regarded as Monsters for nearly all of human history. Anything remotely magical, even some mages, were often seen as evil and persecuted as a result, being offered no human rights. Thus many Demi-Humans who often wielded fantastical magical abilities that made them resemble monsters, were treated with the utmost disdain and classified as Monsters on principle.
During the events of Territorial Seizure, due to the emergence of Tempest, Demi-Humans were officially recognized as members of humanity and given proper rights by the Western Nations. The Dwarf and Elf nations had been previously tolerated by the church, but even they were not officially recognized until this declaration.
Evolution
There are two mainstream evolutionary paths available to human and demi-human species, Enlightenment and Majinization. There is a third in the form of awakening the power dormant in ones bloodline and returning to a purer form of their subspecies or even becoming a Fairy, but this is only normally available to certain Demi-Human subspecies and only during special circumstances.
Body
Astral Body The Astral Body (星幽体アストラル・ボディー, asutoraru bodī?) or Spirit Body (霊体, reitai?)[1] is the innermost body, the protective container for the soul. It also acts as a sort of computational device that translates the intention of the soul and relays it to the Spiritual Body.[1] This layer requires a medium to preserve it, with it otherwise slowly dissolving back into the surrounding space and releasing the soul into the cycle of reincarnation.
Spiritual Body The Spiritual Body (精神体スピリチュアル・ボディー, supirichuaru bodī, lit. "Mental Body"?) is what keeps the Astral Body and Soul protected from the environment. It acts as a foundation to accumulate power and a vessel to store energy.[2][3]
For Material Lifeforms and Demi-Material Lifeforms it acts as a temporary virtual memory storage, while for Demi-Spiritual Lifeforms it acts as a thinking device and permanent memory storage similar to the brain. Most residents of Spiritual Worlds only have a Spiritual Body and lack a Material Body entirely.
Body
Material Body The Material Body (物質体マテリアル・ボディー, materiaru bodī, lit. "Substance Body"?) is the anchor that keeps the Spiritual Body attached to the physical plane and allows for the interaction with material objects.
Material Lifeforms and Demi-Material Lifeforms need a material body to stay alive, while Demi-Spiritual Lifeforms and Spiritual Lifeforms need one to remain anchored to the material world. Without a material body, beings of a spiritual nature are doomed to eventually either die or be rejected by the material world and ejected back into their spiritual world of origin.[4]
Core The Core (核コア, koa?) is an important part of the material body of beings like Monsters and similar. It serves as a vital function similar to that of a heart[5] and if it's destroyed then the person in question will perish.[6][7]
There are various different types depending on the nature of the being in question, including but not limited to; Magic Core (魔核コア, koa?), Chaos Core (聖魔核, seima kaku?), Heart (心臓コア, koa?), Daemon Core (悪魔核, akuma kaku?), and Elemental Core (精霊核, seirei kaku?).
Body
Magic Body A Magic Body (魔体, matai, Yenpress: "Magical Corpus"?) is a temporary material body made of solidified Magicules, similar to the Body Double Extra Skill. It is typically used by Demi-Spiritual Lifeforms and Spiritual Lifeforms who do not have a proper material body to anchor them to the physical plane. It allows them to interact with the world and due to being made of essentially pure energy, can easily reform from any physical damage. It can also be used to "project" one's Spiritual Body to another location if their Material Body is immobile, such as in the case of the Dryads.
For beings of a spiritual nature that use a magic body as a medium for incarnation, it will be unstable and result in a constant loss of energy until it can no longer be maintained. Unless they are in an area with an extremely high level of magicule concentration—such as the Dungeon[8] or the area near a Hell Gate—or are being supplied with a constant stream of energy from someone or something else, a Magic Body will typically only last for around a few days.
Divinity
Divinity (神性, shinsei, lit. "Divine Nature"?) is something that is achieved when a Spiritual Lifeform who possesses a Material Body completes the process of Awakening and becomes immortal as a result. It is different from the conceptual God and beings who possess it are not omnipotent. They are, however, extremely powerful. Those with Divinity are called Transcendent (超越者, chōetsu-sha, lit. "Transcendental One"?)[1].
Properties Beings with Divinity possess the ability to freely convert their material body between physical and spiritual form and are freed from lifespan. As long as their Heart Core remains intact, and they have sufficient energy, they can regenerate endlessly, even from the destruction of their Body or Soul.
It should be noted that most individuals possessing Divinity cannot have children, as their material body is almost always converted into a mass of pure energy and lack properly functioning genetics as a result.
They also possess a special energy called Divine Aura (神気, shinki?) which, when used with their body or equipment, can elevate their attack and defense to be equivalent to God-Grade Equipment.
Aura
Aura (オーラ, ōra?) is a particular energy released by living beings, usually leaking from their bodies in varying amounts.
Properties Aura is a form of spiritual matter that exerts physical pressure on people and objects. It is naturally released by all living beings without any special actions, but to use it to its fullest extent, training is required. During combat, aura can be used to enhance one's physical abilities, such as power, speed, and durability, all with varying results depending on the quality and amount of aura within a person, in addition to their proficiency in controlling it. Aura can also be used to increase the performance of equipped gear beyond normal. In practice, this results in superhuman feats without the aid of Magic or Skills.
Fighting Spirit is a fundamental component of Battlewill, a school of Arts that creates powerful physical attacks and effects that resemble magic. The most adept users can infuse their fighting spirit inside their opponents, damaging them from within, and even crippling them, depending on the amount. It can act as magicule-dispelling waves that nullify the effects of Potions and hinder any regenerative abilities that similarly operate on magicules, for spiritual life-forms who are beings of pure energy, this is especially dangerous for them as they are at risk of their very constitution falling apart.[1] When fighting spirit is combined with magicules, techniques encompassing both physical and magical phenomenon are born, known as Mystic-Arts.
By observing the potency of a creature's aura, their strength or danger level can be inferred to an extent. Many security systems within human settlements are built to react to specific auras, usually ones associated with monsters. This suggests there are certain qualities not all auras share and can be attributed to certain groups of creatures or individuals.
Aura Types
Types of Aura
Fighting Ki (闘気, tōki?) or Fighting Spirit[2]: Released when fighting. Used by all living beings.[3]
Mystic Ki (妖気, yōki?) or Mystical Aura[2]: Released by Monsters and all Magical races.
Dragon Ki (竜気, ryūki?) or Draconic Aura[2]: Released by True Dragons and their Dragon offshoots.
Holy Ki (聖気, seiki?) or Holy Aura: Released by Holy beings.
Spirit Ki (霊気, reiki?) or Spirit Aura: Released by Spirits, usually Elementals.
Divine Ki (神気, shinki?) or Divine Aura: Released by Divine beings.
Awakening
Awakening (覚醒, kakusei?) is a term used to refer to the process of becoming a higher form of existence.
Examples include: Developing Chosen Heroes and Demon Lords awakening and becoming True Chosen Heroes and True Demon Lords, Demi-Spiritual Lifeforms awakening and becoming Spiritual Lifeforms or Spiritual Lifeforms awakening and becoming Divine Beings.
Chosen Hero Chosen Hero's Egg Chosen Hero's Egg (勇者の卵, yūsha no tamago?) refers to those who obtain the blessing of an Elemental of Light or Darkness as well as the Elemental Queen.
True Chosen Hero True Chosen Heroes (真なる勇者, shin'naru yūsha?) or The One who Hatched the Chosen Hero's Egg (勇者の卵が孵った者, yūsha no tamago ga kaetta mono?), are those who hatched a Chosen Hero's Egg, merging with their elemental and became an Awakened Chosen Hero.
Notable True Chosen Heroes For the list of all known True Chosen Heroes, see Known True Chosen Heroes.
Demon Lord Demon Lord Seed Demon Lord Seed (魔王種, maō shu, lit. "Demon King Species"?) refers to individuals who have met the necessary qualifications to be able to undergo the Harvest Festival and become Demon Lords.
Harvest Festival The Harvest Festival (魔王ヘの進化ハーベストフェスティバル, hābesuto fesutibaru, lit. "Evolution of the Demon King"?) occurs once all the requirements to become a Demon Lord are met by a Demon Lord Seed. The World Language will confirm the user's intent to become a Demon Lord and the "Initiation" will start.
True Demon Lords True Demon Lord (真なる魔王, shin naru maō?) – sometimes referred to as Awakened Demon Lord (覚醒魔王, kakusei maō?) are those who have undergone the Harvest Festival and become actual Demon Lords by awakening.
Notable True Demon Lords For the list of all known True Demon Lords, see Known True Demon Lords.
Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival (魔王ヘの進化ハーベストフェスティバル, hābesuto fesutibaru, lit. "Evolution into a Demon Lord"?) is a phenomenon that occurs once all the requirements to become a True Demon Lord (真なる魔王, shin naru maō?) have been met.
Harvest Festival Requirements In order to meet the base requirements to undergo a Harvest Festival and become a Demon Lord, an individual has to fulfill certain conditions, at which point they're referred to as a Demon Lord Seed (魔王種, maō shu?). Once the individual obtains the qualifications to become a Demon Lord, they're required to Germinate the Seed (必要な条件タネのハツガ, tane no hatsuga?) using a large amount of Souls.
It is usually said that 10,000 Human Souls are necessary for this process, but in fact, the soul of any creature capable of passing a mirror self-recognition test is sufficient.[1] Similarly, the 10,000 number is only an average, with the actual quantity of soul energy being what matters, not the number of individual souls.[2]
Harvest Festival
Effects Once an individual with the qualifications to become a Demon Lord germinates the seed with an appropriate amount of Nutrients (人間の魂ヨウブン, yōbun, lit. "Human Souls"?), the World Language will confirm their intent to become a Demon Lord, after which, the start of the Harvest Festival will be announced to those in their surroundings and the Initiation (通過儀礼イニシエーション, inishiēshon, lit. "Rite of Passage"?) will begin.
The Initiation is a process in which the Demon Lord Candidate is tested by the world itself to determine if they're worthy of being a Demon Lord. The individual's consciousness will grind to screeching halt as they're put into a special "sleep" that is impossible to resist and lasts for three days. This "sleep" is different from the usual Evolutionary Slumber and the Low-Activity Mode used by Spiritual Lifeforms. During the duration of the "sleep", the individual will be left completely helpless, with even their defensive skills granting them no benefit. If one is not careful, one could be assassinated by an enemy or disloyal ally while undergoing the initiation, making undertaking it a massive risk.
During the duration of the Initiation, the individual will start the main course of the Harvest Festival in full. Their body will be reconstructed into a stronger state, usually resulting in the individual's Super Evolution (超進化, chō shinka?) into their desired form and acquiring powerful Intrinsic Skills along with it. The individual's mind will also be stimulated, making the individual a Spiritual Lifeform in mind if they weren't so already. This can potentially result in minor personality changes, although the odds of that are slim.
The power granted to an individual upon becoming a Demon Lord is immense, so much so that it isn't uncommon for True Demon Lords to possess Divinity, making those that do super-high level existences with increased odds of awakening an Ultimate Skill in their near-future.
Harvest Festival
Gifts Upon the completion of an individual's Harvest Festival, Gifts (祝福ギフト, gifuto, lit. "Wishes"?) will be granted to everyone in that individuals Soul Genealogy, most notably those that they've named. The Harvest Festival's "Gifts" can come in many forms. Some gain Skills that they desire, potentially even awakening Unique Skills, while others attain evolutions that would otherwise be impossible, such as a Hobgoblin becoming an Ogre. Whatever the result, it is almost certain that their "wish" will come true.
Holy Power
Holy Power (聖なる力, seinaru-ryoku?), also known as Holy Energy (聖なるエネルギー, seinaru enerugī?), is a type of spiritual matter of an opposite nature to Magicules. It is the primary source of power for holy beings and is utilized in Holy Magic.
Properties Holy Power carries properties of purification, capable of healing injuries and cleansing curses. Its nature as the opposite counterpart to Magicules leaves the two in a relationship similar to that of Matter and Antimatter, with the Positive (Holy Power) and the Negative (Magicules) canceling each other out. This makes Holy Power essentially a poison to demonic beings that rely on Magicules to continue to exist, such as Majin and Magic Beasts.
Infons
Infons (情報子, jōhōshi?) or Information Particles are the smallest particles and the building blocks of all things including Souls and even Skills. Their mass is as close to zero as it gets. They are unaffected by space and time and are thus able to transfer information in any situation with zero time difference.
Observing them is extremely difficult and normally only possible under certain conditions, like inside Rimuru's stomach or an Infinity Prison. The ability to alter, combine, and abolish skills are an example of limited manipulation of Infons. Directly interacting with them is only possible as Digital Natures and a requirement to move in the Stopped World.
Existence Value
Existence Value (存在値, sonzai-chi?) also known as Energy (存在力エネルギー, enerugī, lit. "Existential Force"?) is the energy (Magicules, Magical Power, Aura, etc) contained within the body and soul of an individual or object.
Existence Points An objective and numerical measurement of Existence Value called Existence Point (EXISTENCE・POINTイグジステンス・ポイント, igujisutensu pointo?)—shortened to EP (EP?)—was created by Tempest utilizing the precise analytical powers of Ramiris's Small World, acting as the basis for their internal Rank system. It's an improved and more precise version of the rudimentary measurements utilized by the Eastern Empire.
Magical Power
Magical Power (魔力, ma-ryoku?) or Power (魔力パワー, pawā?) refers to the energy used to perform a wide variety of actions, such as manipulating Magicules, Holy Power and Spiritrons, activating and maintaining the use of Skills, casting Magic, and Naming.[2]
Properties Magical Power is in and of itself not a specific type of energy, but rather the aggregate of several different energies. Its comprised of the Material Body's Energy (生命力エナジ, seimei-ryokuenaji, lit. "Life Power"?) and the Spiritual Body's Energy (精神力エネルギー, seishin-ryokuenerugī, lit. "Spiritual Power"?),[3] with the Soul's Soul Power (魂の力, tamashī no ryoku?) likely also falling under this categorization.
Magical Power can be considered analogous to stamina, with a state of low magical power resulting in physical exhaustion or mental lethargy.[4][3] It can be recovered in the ways that one would expect going by this description, with sleeping and eating being the most common among them.[3] Additionally, for those that have a sufficient tolerance towards Magicules, it is possible for their bodies to metabolize an excess amount into energy, which results in a rapid restoration of expended magical power.[5]
In extreme cases, the depletion of magical power past a certain limit can result in permanent damage or even death.[3] However, given that most individuals would pass out long before reaching this point, this is an extremely rare occurrence. This typically only happens if one's magical power is being drained by an outside source. Similarly, if one's physical condition becomes impaired such as by neglect, damage, or aging, their magical power will decrease.[6]
When a being is utilizing their magical power, it is normal for it to leak out of their body and into their surroundings in the form of waves.[7][8] It is also possible for someone to imbue their magical power into objects, allowing for the activation of magic by someone incapable of even casting it, even if it has a limited number of uses.[9]
Magic Circuits
Magic Circuits Magic Circuits (魔力回路, maryoku kairo, lit. "Magical Power Circuits"?) are a type of pseudo circulatory system found within the bodies of beings like Majin and Spiritual Lifeforms.
While for normal lifeforms like Humans and Demi-Humans their magical power is stored within their blood and runs through their circulatory system,[3] magical and spiritual beings which have an abnormal physiology instead have Magic Circuits to circulate energy through their bodies.[11]
It is possible for these Magic Circuits to be interfered with and blocked by effects such as curses and advanced applications of Fighting Spirit. This will make it difficult to accumulate energy and slow down the healing process.
Magical Power
The exact wavelength of an individual's magical power is different from person to person, similar to a fingerprint. This allows for those more sensitive to magical power and those possessing the Extra Skill Magic Sense to identify individuals based purely on their magical power regardless of their physical appearance.[10]
Mystic Arts
Mystic-Arts (妖術, yōjutsu?) are an advanced form of Arts that involve adding magical properties to one's own fighting spirit, essentially fusing Battlewill and Magic to create a technique that surpasses the potential of either individually. Attacks with Mystic Arts encompass both physical and magical phenomenon, allowing it to be effective on virtually any being given enough power. Basic uses of Mystic Arts include coating a sword with magic-infused Aura and hurling Aura with magical effects at someone similar to Elemental Magic in appearance.
Arts
Arts (技術アーツ, ātsu, lit. "Technique"?) are techniques performed entirely through the users own capabilities such as Martial Arts and Magic, rather than through the completely automatic process of Skills.
Battlewill
Battlewill (気闘法, kitōhō, lit. "Aura Fighting Method"?) is a family of Arts that makes use of the Aura present in all living beings to perform powerful physical attacks and effects that resemble magic. Unlike magic, these techniques do not require any sort of chant and usually have little to no casting time.
Examples of Battlewill include, but are not limited to; body and weapon strengthening, presence concealment, creating aura constructs, blocking an opponent's regenerative capabilities, and flight.
Soul
A Soul (魂, tamashī?) is the most essential component at the root of all beings. It is the most fundamental self and the source of power for all living beings.
Composition The innermost facet of the soul is known as the Ego (自我, jiga?), which is an amorphous wavelength that acts as the source of intention and will. The Ego is surrounded by a supercluster of Infons known as the Core (心核ココロ, kokoro, lit. "Spirit Nucleus; Heart Core; Mind's Center"?), which serves as both a container for the Ego and as well as a recording device for Information. The Core is then surrounded by an Energy Crystal (エネルギー結晶, enerugī kesshō?), a dense collection of Spiritrons[1] which acts as a source of power. The Energy Crystal is what is usually being referred to when the word "Soul" is mentioned, with the two being synonymous.
All three of these aspects work together and form a cohesive mechanism similar to a living cell, which is then covered in a protective housing known as the Astral Body.
There is a base minimum amount of Soul Energy (魂のエネルギー, tamashī no enerugī?) within the Energy Crystal granted to every soul equally, but based on the Quality (質, shitsu?) and Quantity (量, ryō?) of Infons within the Core, this energy can increase dramatically. The Quality and Quantity of Information (and the resulting Soul Energy) of Plants and Animals is extremely small; while the Information of sentient beings is vastly superior in Quantity and Quality and results in a much higher amount of Soul Energy. It is this Soul Energy or Soul Force (魂の力, tamashī no chikara?) that fuels the activation of abilities like Skills and Magic, acting as the source of power for all living things. Though it is possible to use the Magicules from the individual's internal storage or the environment as a replacement for Soul Energy for use in Battlewill and Magic, this is not possible for Skills.[2]
Soul
As a rule of thumb, it is generally held that energy and Skills rooted within the soul are nigh-on impossible to be affected by abilities such as those that can steal energy and Skills from their targets. Though this is usually the case, if the right conditions are met it is possible for these things to be taken away. However, anything rooted within the Core is impossible to be deprived of its rightful owner.
It is also possible for two souls to be temporarily linked together inside one of the parties' Inner Spiritual World—also known as their Mental Landscape (心象風景, shinsō fūkei?)—if their astral bodies are touching. In this sort of situation, it is possible for abilities to affect things rooted in the soul as long as the soul in question does not resist and has consented to the action.[3]
Soul
Soul Wavelength Each and every soul has its own unique Soul Wavelength (魂の波長, tamashī no hachō?), which seems to radiate from the core. It is possible for an individual to be identified by their soul wavelength,[4] and based on the frequency, one could gain a feeling of an individual's personality. These frequencies are known as Color (色, iro?) and it can develop and change depending on the growth of an individual. Daemons, in particular, place a great deal of importance on Color, with their society being built around it.
Colors can be broadly split into 8 types, which exist on a spectrum and vary from individual to individual.
Soul
Name A Name (名前, namae?), is a powerful piece of information carved into the soul, usually at birth by one's parents or later in life by an independent namer. The acquisition of a name can cause drastic changes within the soul, strengthening the ego and resulting in a massive increase in the quality and quantity of Infons within the core.
Soul Lineage Soul Lineage (魂の系譜, tamashī no keifu?) refers to a special kind of link that connects the Cores of two or more souls together across space-time. This link seems to be deeply tied to or synonymous with Divine Protection and can be created in many ways, including but not limited to naming, magic, belief, and blood relations. Information as well as energy can be exchanged through the link and said link has two different names depending on its strength. The two known levels are Soul Connection (魂の繋, tamashī no tsunagi?) and the superior Soul Corridor (魂の回廊, tamashī no kairō?).
Name
Name (名前, namae?) is a term that refers to the "name" of an individual, or to be more precise, the name inscribed onto their 'soul'.
Individuals who have a name are referred to as Named (名持ちネームド, nēmudo?) while those who don't are called Nameless (名無しネームレス, nēmuresu?). Named beings typically have much stronger wills as well as more diverse and complex emotions compared to a nameless being of the same age.
Naming Naming (名付け, nadzuke?) refers to the act of an individual receiving a name. There are three known methods for this process.
Equal Naming Equal Naming is an act of naming that establishes an equal relationship between the namer and the named. This type of naming either consumes no energy to perform or costs so little that it's considered "safe" and the power received in return can be considered minimal. Examples of this are parents naming their children or Veldora naming Rimuru Tempest.
Name
Master-Subordinate Naming Master-Subordinate naming is a type of naming that establishes the named as being subordinate to the namer. This act consumes an amount of Magicules and/or Magical Power proportionate to the strength of the being receiving the name. If the namer names someone too strong or names too many people without a long enough recovery time, there is a high chance that the energy expended in the process of naming will never fully recover. The benefit to this rather risky process is the power that the named individual receives. Someone named in this way forms a powerful soul bond with the namer, possibly even inheriting some of their abilities, and in the case of monsters and certain regressed demi-humans, they can even evolve.
Additionally, Rimuru developed a method that consumed the magicules in the surrounding environment in order to perform naming. This method obliterates the risk of naming to zero but, in return, the soul connection between the namer and named is significantly weaker than normal. Examples of this can be seen when Rimuru names 150,000 Orcs using the magicules still surrounding their body from the effects of Starved, and when Rimuru named the Black Numbers using the magicules contained within the culture pods that stored their bodies.
Name
Named by the Masses On extremely rare occasions an individual can receive a name through the collective belief of a large amount of people. Individuals named in this way receive all of the self-image and power enhancing properties of a name but without the need of ever forming a close bond with another person. Examples of this type of naming can be seen with Guy Crimson and Orthos.
Magic Ore
Magic Ore (魔鉱石, makōseki?) is the raw form of Magisteel. Even without being processed into Magisteel, it is considered equal in value to gold due to being rare and versatile.[1]
Unlike regular ores, Magic Ore only forms around the vicinity of B Rank Monsters or higher. That is because when over a certain period of time regular mineral ores are exposed to dense concentrations of Magicules, the ores will slowly absorb them and eventually turn into Magic Ore.[1] Due to the high level monsters lurking around them, they are only accessible to high ranking adventurers.[1]
Magic Ore is already very difficult to obtain, but the amount of Magisteel that can be extracted from that ore is only 3~5%. In other words, even a fist-sized chunk of Magisteel is worth at least twenty times its weight in gold.[1]
The 91st floor of The Dungeon is designated as the storage place for mineral ores, allowing them to turn into Magic Ores after absorbing Veldora's magicules.
Magi-Steel
Magisteel (魔鋼, makō, lit. "Magic Steel"?) is the material extracted from raw Magic Ore. [1] The amount of Magisteel that can be extracted from that ore is only 3~5%.
Properties This material is very durable and heat resistant. In comparison to other rare metals that have at most a melting point around 5,000 degrees Celsius, Magisteel can withstand temperatures close to 10,000 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, it has a self-repairing trait[2] and is exceptional at inducting Magical Power, enabling any objects made from Magisteel to "grow" with their user. All these properties made Magisteel highly desirable for making high quality equipment with magical properties. Magisteel's excellent properties and difficulty to obtain resulted in its very high price in the market. Even a fist-sized chunk of Magisteel is worth at least twenty times its weight in gold.[1]
Factor
Factor (因子, inshi?), sometimes referred to as Essence (因子エキス, ekisu, lit. "Extract"?), is a type of information or substance within all living beings both physical and spiritual in nature. It determines or rather is the distinct characteristics that distinguish certain species, subspecies, and so on. It serves a similar or complementary role to DNA, albeit usually more mystical in nature than chemical.
For Spiritual Lifeforms who can have completely unique powers and appearances to suit their will, this is often the only way to distinguish their origin and separate them into distinct "species". It also serves a vital function in the birth of Monsters, as without the presence of some kind of Factor, a monster is unlikely to ever be born no matter how high the magicule concentration is.[1]
Majin
Majin (魔人, majin, lit. "Demonic Person"?), also known as Magic-Born, is a catchall term for intelligent Monsters. [1] They can be born naturally, be the result of monsters that have undergone mutation, or evolved from already intelligent non-magical beings that have undergone monsterization. [2]
Most Majin have reproductive ability, but usually only within their own subspecies. [3] In their upper social castes exist Greater Majin such as Giants, Vampires, Harpies and other longer-lived species all equally capable of having offspring, although they rarely do so, since their immense Magic Power causes them to be nigh-immortal, obviating the need to leave descendants.
Majin
Sub-Classifications Demonoid Demonoid (人魔族デモンノイド, demon'noido, lit. "Human Monster Tribe"?) is a generalized term used to refer to Majin who were originally Humans, but have had their body mutated by magic to become monsters.
Strength Classifications Greater Majin Greater Majin (上位魔人, jōi majin, lit. "High-Level Demonic Person"?) is a general term used for Majin who are Over A Rank. They hold power unimaginable to a normal person, usually being found in service to one Demon Lord or another as apart of their elite troops. In some areas, they are even worshipped as Local Gods.
Examples include Gelmud before their naming spree and Geld in their Orc Lord state.
Sub-Demon Lord Level Sub-Demon Lord Level (準魔王級, jun maō-kyū, lit. "Quasi Demon Lord-Class"?) is a general term given to Majin who have surpassed simple Greater Majin in power and reached Special-A Rank. Although their strength is still a far cry from Demon Lord Level, they're powerful pawns for the Demon Lords, with them usually taking thorough preparations in order to either take them down or bring them to their side. For Majin of this level it isn't strange for them to have powerful minions in the form of Greater Majin and Greater Daemons assisting them in their schemes, allowing them to potentially take down an entire nation with thorough preparation.
Examples include the Orc Disaster Geld and the Three Beastketeers prior to receiving gifts from Carrion's Harvest Festival.
Demon Lord Level Demon Lord Level (魔王級, maō-kyū, lit. "Demon Lord-Class"?) is a term used to refer to Majin that have strength comparable to a Demon Lord but aren't themselves officially recognized Demon Lords. Majin of this level usually have one or more Sub-Demon Lord Level subordinates and dozens of Greater Majin under their control. It isn't unusual to find them in control of a large area of land comparable to a small nation.
Rank
Power Ranking Systems Free Guild System A revolutionary system created by Yuuki Kagurazaka that was quickly adapted by the entire world for it's ingenuity. It classifies monsters and other hostiles by taking into account a variety of variables such as Magicule Count, Physical Strength, Defensive Capabilities, Speed, Skills, and Intelligence. Average rankings are often given to an entire species, with further reclassification being given to specific individuals based on special factors like the possession of equipment and arts.
F Rank (F級?): A ranking assigned to those who possess little to no combat capabilities. E Rank (E級?): A ranking assigned to those who possess power equivalent to the average Human adult. D Rank (D級?): A ranking assigned to those who have power equivalent to a soldier, requiring a group of at least 3 or 4 average humans to defeat. C Rank (C級?): A ranking assigned to those who have power equivalent to or above an experienced soldier with professional training. B Rank (B級?): A ranking assigned to threats that have the potential to wipe out an entire village singlehandedly. A Rank (A級?): A ranking assigned to threats that have the potential to severely damage an entire town, requiring the deployment of several high-ranking adventurers or a nations knights to be taken care of. Special-A Rank (特A級?): A ranking assigned to threats that have the potential to destroy a small sized nation, requiring the deployment of a nation's army or a Champion-class individual to defeat. S Rank (S級?): A ranking assigned to Demon Lords and those of equivalent power, requiring a large nation's entire military and the deployment of their Champions to defeat. Special-S Rank (特S級?): A ranking assigned to threats that no singular nation could hope to stand up against, such as True Demon Lords and True Dragons. It is believed that such threats can only be dealt with by the intervention of a Chosen Hero.
Disaster Rank
Danger Level Danger Level is an older classification, separate from regular rankings, meant to classify the danger level of Monsters and Majin. Unlike the Free Guilds ranking system, it's classified by overall threat level and not just combat capabilities. Additionally, it is subjected to inaccurate listings due to political interference, with classifications of certain individuals being listed as a lower rank than what knowledge of their capabilities would lead one to believe.
Hazard-class (災害級ハザード, hazādo?): A classification for threats that boast enough power to destroy entire towns and require the movement of a nations knights to defeat. Equivalent to A Rank Calamity-class (災厄級カラミティ, karamiti?): A classification for threats that could potentially bring down an entire country, usually possessing several high-ranking Majin subordinates and boasting a considerable influence. Equivalent to Special-A Rank Disaster-class (災禍級ディザスタ, dizasuta?): A classification reserved for Demon Lords, beings who possess enough power and influence to rival a large country, requiring a powerhouse nation like Ingrassia to stand a chance against. The qualifications to be placed here are strict, with individuals of sufficient power often not being ranked here due to special factors and to not make the public think that Demon Lord-level individuals are roaming the world freely unchecked. Equivalent to S Rank. Catastrophe-class (天災級カタストロフ, katasutorofu?): A classification reserved for threats considered too great for any singular western nation to handle, requiring international cooperation beyond the framework of a nation to bet on a chance of survival. This level is officially only occupied by the True Dragons, but behind closed doors there are whispers of True Demon Lords who possess enough power to obliterate entire countries off the map. Equivalent to Special-S Rank.
Tempest Rank
Tempest System A system used internally by Tempest's government and used in their management of the Dungeon. It's a stripped down version of the Free Guild's system, using an objective numerical measurement of an individual's Existence Value –called Existence Points– to assign them a ranking and adjust the dungeon's difficulty accordingly.
E Class (E級, E kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP below 1,000. D Class (D級, D kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 1,000 and 3,000. C Class (C級, C kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 3,000 and 6,000. B Class (B級, B kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 6,000 and 8,000. B+ Class (+B級, +B kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 8,000 and 9,000. A- Class (-A級, -A kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 9,000 and 10,000. A Class (A級, A kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 10,000 and 100,000. It is also referred to as A-Rank Over (Aランクオーバー, A ranku ōbā?) and is equivalent to Hazard-class. Special-A Class (特A級, toku A kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 100,000 and 400,000. It is equivalent to Calamity-class. S Class (S級, S kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP between 400,000 and 800,000. It is equivalent to Disaster-class. Special-S Class (特S級, toku S kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP over 800,000 Million Class (超級覚醒者ミリオンクラス, mirion kurasu, lit. "Super Awakened Class"?): A general term used to refer to those with an EP over 1,000,000. Catastrophe Class (天災級カタストロフ, katasutorofu?): The sole ranking used by Tempest that relies on Combat Power instead of Existence Points, reserved only for those with transcendent power that begins to approach the domain of True Dragons. Genesis Class (創世級, sōsei kyū?): A ranking given to those with an EP over 100,000,000.
True Dragons
True Dragons (竜種, ryūshu, lit. "Dragon Species"?) are the highest ranking beings in existence. They're nigh-invulnerable and nigh-unstoppable avatars of nature that serve as the pillars of all creation with only five known to exist. They are considered the greatest creations of the Creator God.[3]
Appearance True Dragons, as nature itself incarnate, and as Spiritual Lifeforms, do not have a set singular appearance or form. They can assume the appearance and properties of whatever they wish, with no real attachment to their bodies. As spiritual beings, whatever form they assume will be affected by their own personal self-image and individuality.
True Dragons typically assume a massive lizard-like form covered in scales and bearing horns and wings, in addition to a secondary human-like form, with Rimuru's Slime Form being a notable exception. Their large draconic form is capable of taking and dealing much more damage, while their human form is far more energy efficient and is better suited for long-term battles.
Birth After a True Dragon is born for the first time, it can never be truly killed. Even if the individual itself is killed, another True Dragon of the same natural characteristic will be born anew somewhere else. That new True Dragon will have the memories of the previous but might lose some aspects of its personality, while simply understanding its nature of existence right after birth. [4]
