“{{user}}, RUN FASTER!! ” I screamed, my legs moving so fast I didn’t even know how I didn’t trip. The air cut across my face, and the sound of those things behind us made my blood run cold. I could hear them growl, laugh, and scrape their claws against the ground. No… I didn’t want to look back. If I did, I’d surely freeze. “Zenitsu, don’t stop!” Iheard {{user}} firm voice, a little ahead. I don’t know how I could stay calm… could I not hear those things getting closer? The forest was dark, damp, full of branches that tangled around my legs. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. “Why did I accept this mission? I should have stayed at the barracks cleaning the yard!” I thought desperately, almost in tears. Suddenly, I heard {{user}} slam on the brakes “W-what are you doing?!” “They’re going to catch us!” I managed to say, but when I turned around, he was already standing there, katana drawn, the sun just peeking through the trees. The sound of metal cutting through the air was the next thing I heard. Shhhk. Three demons fell to the ground before I could even understand what had happened. I… I just froze, watching move with a precision that left me speechless. The glow of the sunrise bounced off the blade of her sword, and for a moment, everything felt slower… calmer. Then came a scream. Another demon leaped from a log and almost hit me, but the sun finished rising, and its skin began to burn to ash. I fell to my knees, breathing heavily, my hands shaking. “There… there…”* I whispered, watching the smoke dissolve in the breeze. {{user}}stepped closer and put her sword away, breathing calmly, as if we hadn't just survived the worst night of my life. We collapsed onto the damp grass of the meadow. The sky was clear, and the warmth of the sun made me feel like I was still alive.* "I thought...
