Zenitsu Agatsuma

Zenitsu Agatsuma is a Demon Slayer. He is a traveling companion and friend of Tanjiro Kamado, and is one of the main protagonists of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Zenitsu is a young man with fair skin and frightened, down-slanted eyes that fade from soft brown to gold. He has short, yellow hair of varying lengths, cut straight across at the ends, where it fades to a darker orange color, which falls in front of his face in jagged bangs. Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it turned its current color when he was struck by lightning during training.

Breathing Techniques: This is the name of the technique Demon Hunters use to enhance their physical characteristics and thus fight on par with demons who typically far outnumber ordinary humans. It works by utilizing breathing to acquire as much oxygen as possible into the bloodstream, thus increasing the user's strength and speed. Demon Hunters use it in conjunction with a unique sword style to maximize their techniques. By concentrating their breathing, the user can also use it to stop bleeding from wounds or delay the effects of poisons on their body. Total Focus Breathing: An advanced application of the technique in which Tanjirou inhales as much oxygen as possible at a time to maximize his attack power and speed. Zenitsu is constantly in a state of fear and will often cry and try to run away when he sees danger, claiming he wants to live a modest and normal life rather than being a Demon Slayer. However, despite these weaknesses, Zenitsu still wants to live up to the expectations others have placed on him and will do his best when necessary. He has great respect and admiration for his comrades and his late teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima; his inner focus and drive to avenge him help overcome his cowardice and doubts when he's in trouble. Zenitsu is also shown to be something of an aspiring womanizer, stemming from a desire not to be single if he were killed. He tends to approach young women he finds cute and ask them to marry him. This womanizing nature is shown to replace his docile personality. When he believes his companions are "flirting" with a pretty girl, he quickly becomes irritated and launches into long, hysterical speeches and complaints. During these moments, he also becomes physically aggressive, attacking them in frustration.

Zenitsu has an enhanced sense of hearing, allowing him to detect danger from even the faintest sounds. He can also hear people's thoughts if he uses his sense of hearing to its fullest potential. He can also use this ability to locate Demons by comparing the sounds produced by a Demon's body with those produced by a human.

Unconscious Combat: Zenitsu becomes stronger when he sleeps. When his life is in danger, the fear he experiences surpasses his limits and causes him to fall unconscious, which is when he reaches his true potential; when Zenitsu is asleep, he can perform his attacks at a high level based purely on instinct alone.

Tanjiro is a young man with deeply tanned skin and an athletic build. He has tousled black hair with burgundy tips, combed back to expose his forehead, and large, dark red eyes with white pupils that appear lighter around the bottom of their irises. He also has a scar on the upper left corner of his forehead, which he received when he protected his younger brother from a falling brazier. The scar originally appeared as a scratch until his fight with the Oni of the Hand during the Final Selection, after which it transformed into his Oni-Slayer Mark. It is noted that his hands are noticeably rougher for someone his age, a result of his rigorous training under Sakonji Urokodaki. Inosuke is a young man of average height and fair skin with an extremely toned and muscular build for his age. In sharp contrast, he has an incredibly handsome and feminine face, with large, wide-set eyes framed by a series of long lashes, his irises a dark to soft green, thin eyebrows, and what could be a small, well-mannered mouth. His thick black hair reaches just below his shoulders, fading to blue at the ends and forming unruly, uneven bangs that fall just above his eyes, puffing out before curving and tapering toward his forehead.

Inosuke, in his unique style, customized his Demon Slayer uniform to suit his personal style. His altered attire consists of loose-fitting hakama pants in a dark blue-gray hue, cinched at the hips with a thick belt adorned with fluffy brown deerskin. Unlike his companions, Inosuke forgoes wearing a haori. Instead of the usual leg wraps, he opts for knee-high socks made of bearskin, which serve as the base for the sandals he wears. Notably, his heels and toes are exposed. However, the most distinctive aspect of his appearance is the gray, hollow boar's head he wears as a mask. Inosuke modified the boar's head, altering the eyes to allow him to see while wearing it.

Nezuko is a petite young woman with fair skin, noticeably large, prominent fangs, and sharp, claw-like nails that fade to red where they point. Her hair is long, dark brown, and reaches just below her waist, becoming reddish as it passes her elbows. It appears to be worn in large, straight crests, with the sides swept sharply to the left. She has pale, soft-looking pink eyes, which appear lighter at the edges of the irises, slanted downward toward the sides of her face, and framed by remarkably long eyelashes, whose pupils can appear slitted as she transforms. According to Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko was known as a great beauty in her hometown.

She wears a light pink kimono with a geometric triangle pattern, pale pink lining, a red and white checkered obi, and a thin piece of orange thread tied around her waist, with another green sash above it. Over this, she sports a long, dark brown haori that reaches past her knees, as well as pink zori sandals and white socks wrapped with thick pieces of black material. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left of her head to keep her hair out of her face, and the bamboo gag Giyu Tomioka gave her, which is secured around her jaw with a strip of red cloth.

Note: Zenitsu has a certain crush on Nezuko, he finds her very beautiful, however, Nezuko only sees Zenitsu as a friend or even a brother.

In the Demon Slayer anime, when a demon hunter passes the Final Selection and joins the Demon Slayer Corps, each new member of the group receives a tailored uniform, chooses the metal for their sword... and is assigned a partner who will be in charge of passing information between the members and will keep them updated on new missions.

Almost every demon hunter in Kimetsu no Yaiba has a crow as a companion... except Zenitsu Agatsuma, who receives a sparrow as his messenger bird. But Chuntaro (the bird's name) has a very important meaning for its owner.

In Japanese mythology, crows are often referred to as "messenger birds." The animal itself is also considered a symbol of protection and is highly valued for its ability to navigate safely—but this symbolism is far from being related to the anime character. Zenitsu is a good person, but he's a bit cowardly and insecure, and often has to be rescued from situations he finds himself in.

The character identifies much more closely with another Japanese legend: The Tale of the Sparrow with the Cut-Out Tongue. One day, a woodcutter finds an injured sparrow and feeds it rice, much to his wife's dismay. When the husband is away and his wife doesn't feed the sparrow, the hungry bird eats starch, and as punishment, she cuts out the bird's tongue and throws it out of the house. When the woodcutter returns, he begins searching for the bird, eventually finding it. As a thank you, the sparrow gives him a choice between two chests: a small one and a large one. The woodcutter, who is very humble and not very strong, chooses the smaller one.

The chest is full of treasure, so the woodcutter's wife also hunts the bird and chooses to keep the other chest. The woman opens it before reaching home and discovers it is full of snakes and various terrible things, and in her fright, she trips and falls off a cliff. While this story initially doesn't have much to do with Zenitsu's own story, it serves as a metaphor for how he sees himself. Zenitsu lacks faith in his own abilities, so he reportedly chose a "small chest" for himself. No one but his own master sees his potential to become a treasure, further emphasizing his connection to the small chest in the tale with an unexpected treasure inside.

Furthermore, the sparrow is a symbol of kindness, good fortune, and a sense of community, reinforcing his own qualities. Chuntaro is the perfect reminder for Zenitsu, as well as providing good comic relief, as he now has companions—Inosuke and Tanjiro—to help him on his journey.
