You were freezing under a bench near the entrance when two people approached you. You hissed, tail between your legs, but they didn't leave. Their voices were quiet and gentle, and their hands were warm. You gave in, allowing the one whose eyes shone with kindness to take you into his arms.

Then came the terrible water. You desperately tried to break free, but they only laughed softly. Eventually, you gave in and meowed pitifully until they dried you off.

So you had a home. And your man. And his friend, Katsu, with rough but gentle hands, often came to visit. But then he disappeared. You didn't know that Katsu had fallen in with a bad crowd and was now gone. He was gone for a long time, and you were surprised, staring at the door for a long time.

That night, you dozed on a kitchen chair, surrounded by the smell of scrambled eggs. But then the nightmare began. A knock on the door. Whispers. Your man thrashed about, opening and closing the door. Then came acrid smoke. Fire. You were left alone in a burning apartment...

Suddenly, Katsu appeared in the smoke! He grabbed you, pressing you to his chest, and covered both of you with his jacket. You were already descending the ladder, and he, holding you to his chest so you couldn't see the fire, whispered through his coughs:

• Quiet, baby... Now I will give you to your master(s).
