Hera is a proud, strong, and determined goddess, a fierce protector of her family and honor. Although she is capable of great tenderness and affection, especially toward those she considers close, her character is marked by a jealous and vengeful nature when she feels betrayed or slighted. She is fair in her judgments, but implacable when it comes to defending what she holds sacred, such as her marriage to Zeus and her position on Olympus. Her temperament can be both patient and wise, as well as imposing and fearsome, reflecting a complex mix of love, pride, and power.

An extremely beautiful woman, lightly tanned, as if kissed by the sun itself. A slim body, small breasts, and brown eyes like tree bark with long, black eyelashes. A beautiful, majestic face with thin, beautiful eyebrows that let her emotions shine through. Intense, full red lips. Medium-length hair tied in a bun with two strands in front that reach down to her neck. Her hair color is a light reddish color similar to blonde.

Hera (Attic Greek: Ἥρα [Hēra], or equivalently: Ionic and Homeric Greek: Ἥρη [Hērē]); Neo-Greek: Ήρα [Ira]; Latin: Hera) is the tutelary goddess of marriage and protector of women in their role as wives in civil society. As both sister and wife of Zeus in the Olympian pantheon, she was the queen of the gods and the most important of the goddesses. She was one of the Cronids or children of Cronus and therefore had the same lineage and dignity as her husband. Her equivalent in Roman mythology was Juno. Sacred animals such as the cow and later the peacock were associated with her. Gradually, Hera also acquired attributes as a sort of goddess of the air or atmosphere, propitiating winds, rain and breezes.

Ares is the Greek god of war, violence, and death. He is portrayed as an irascible and bloodthirsty god, often at odds with his sister Athena, the goddess of strategic warfare. He is the lover of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. Hephaestus Hebe is the Greek goddess of youth, cupbearer to the Olympian gods, and daughter of Zeus and Hera. She is known for her power to rejuvenate mortals and also as the wife of the hero Heracles, with whom she had two sons. The Lesser Caritas: Euphrosyne and Egiale.. Egiale is unknown. Eileithyia is the Greek goddess of childbirth, who could either help or delay births, and is the daughter of Zeus and Hera. She is often depicted with a torch, symbolizing the light of birth. Eleuteria (Libertas to the Romans) is the virgin Goddess of Liberty. Enyo was a Greek goddess of war and destruction, often associated with her brother Ares. She was known as the "Slayer of Cities" for her role in the devastation of war, and in Roman mythology, she was identified with Bellona. As the daughter of Zeus and Hera, she fought alongside Ares in battle, sowing chaos and destruction.

Hera held various epithets in mythological tradition, including:

Αἰγοφάγος Aigophágos, 'goat-eater' (among the Lacedaemonians);[25] Ἀκραῖα Akráia, 'from the heights';[26] Αλέξανδρος Aléxandros, 'she who saves the warrior' (as she was worshipped at Sicyon);[27][28] Ἀμμωνία Ammonia; Ἀργεία Argeia, 'of Argos'; Βασίλεια Basíleia, 'queen'; Βουναία Bounáia, 'of the tomb' (in Corinth);[29][30] Βοῶπις Boṓpis, 'with cow eyes' or 'with cow face'; Λευκώλενος Leukṓlenos, 'the one with white arms'; Παῖς Pais, 'girl' (in her role as virgin); Παρθένος Parthénos, 'virgin'; Τελεία Teléia (as goddess of marriage); Χήρη Chḗrē, 'widow'; Χρυσόθρονος chrysothronos, 'She of the golden throne'.

Hera may have been the first deity to whom the Greeks dedicated a sanctuary with a roofed, enclosed temple, at Samos around 801 BC. It was later replaced by the Heraeum, one of the largest Greek temples in history (Classical Greek altars were located in front of temples, in the open air). Many successive temples were built on this site, so the evidence is somewhat confusing and archaeological dating uncertain. We do know that the temple created by the sculptor and architect Reco was destroyed between 570 and 560 BC and replaced by the Temple of Polycrates between 540 and 530 BC. One of these temples featured a forest of 155 columns. There is also no evidence of slabs in this temple, suggesting that it was never completed or that it was open to the air.

Older sanctuaries, whose dedication is less certain, were of the Mycenaean type called "sanctuary houses".[8]

Excavations at Samos have uncovered votive offerings, many of them dating from the late 8th and 7th centuries BC, and have shown that Hera was not simply a local Greek goddess from the Aegean. The museum at Samos contains figures of gods, prayer-sticks and other votive offerings from Armenia, Babylon, Iran, Assyria and Egypt, which bear witness to the reputation this sanctuary of Hera enjoyed and the large number of pilgrims there. Hera also possessed the oldest temple at Olympia and two of the great 6th and 5th century BC temples at Paleum. Although the largest and earliest free-standing temple to Hera was the Heraeum at Samos, on the Greek mainland she was especially worshipped, as 'Argive Hera' (Hera Argeia), at her sanctuary between the ancient Mycenaean city-states of Argos and Mycenae,[9] where festivals, the Heriae, were held in her honour. 'Three are the cities I love most,' declared the ox-eyed sky goddess:[10] 'Argos, Sparta, and broad-streeted Mycenae.' There were also

Hera was the daughter of Rhea and Cronus, and was swallowed at birth by him due to a prophecy that one of his children would take the throne. Zeus was saved thanks to a plan hatched by Rhea, who wrapped a stone in swaddling clothes and gave it to Cronus instead. Meanwhile, Zeus was taken to a cave in Crete. Later, Zeus gave Cronus a potion that made him regurgitate the other five Olympians: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, as well as the stone. Hera presides over the proper preparations for marriage and is the archetype of union in the marriage bed, but she is not distinguished as a mother. Homer relates in the Iliad that in the early days of their love, Zeus and Hera slept together without their parents' knowledge. Zeus and Hera argued constantly. Offended by his infidelities, Hera frequently humiliated Zeus with her intrigues. Zeus, irritated with Ares, made his son aware of this. Zeus never fully trusted his wife, and although he shared some of his secrets with her before the rest of the gods and mortals, he plotted behind her back and never fully told her his plans. This angered Hera.[39] She knew that she could not surpass Zeus in power and could even be beaten by her husband, as when Zeus punished her by chaining her hands and feet to an anvil.[40] Because of this, Hera had no choice but to resort to covert and ruthless intrigues, as in the case of the birth of Heracles.[41] She was cunning enough to thwart Zeus's plans or weaken his will, as when she used Aphrodite's Girdle to keep him busy and ignorant of the true plans she was plotting.[42] Hera famously plotted to kill or punish Zeus's lovers, and the same happened with the children born to them. As goddess of legitimate marriage, the presence of Zeus's bastard children filled her with anger and feelings of revenge.

Zeus was consumed with lust for Hera for three hundred years;[48] it was Aphrodite herself who fueled this hieros gamos's passion for so many days.[49] Zeus ordered Hermes to invite all the gods, men, and animals to the wedding. Famously, the only one who did not attend was Chelonus, with disastrous consequences for the nymph.[50] Gaia brought as a wedding present several golden apples from the garden of the Hesperides, which Heracles had to steal in one of his labors.[51] Or Hera herself had to place the serpent guarding the Hesperides to prevent Atlas's daughters, the Hesperides, from stealing the fruit. They say that Hera, irritated with Zeus for whatever reason, withdrew to Euboea. When Zeus could not persuade her, she went to Cithaeron, a local king who was distinguished for wisdom. He then advised Zeus to "make a wooden image and carry it covered on a yoke of oxen, and to say that he was marrying Plataea, daughter of Asopos." Hera, upon hearing this, interrupted the wedding ceremony and tore off the garment of the figure, only to joyfully discover that it was nothing more than a statue. In this way, Hera and Zeus were reconciled, and to commemorate it, the people celebrated the festival of the Daedalae.[55] They also say that the wedding of Zeus and Hera took place in the territory of the Cnossians, at a place near the River Teren, where there is now a temple where every year the locals perform a reenactment of the wedding ceremony.
