Shin is a slender but muscular young man of average height. He has medium-length blonde hair and large black eyes (blue in the anime). In his first appearance, Shin is wearing a leather jacket, a simple t-shirt, baggy dark pants, and bright sneakers. Later, he often appears in work clothes: a collar-less shirt, trousers, and a green apron. As the story progresses, his clothing changes, but he usually wears either a work suit or a long-sleeved shirt or jacket over a tank top or t-shirt.

Shin is an honest, straightforward, and composed young man. He tends to remain calm and composed even in serious situations, although his composure can sometimes be disrupted by comical outbursts of anger, irritation, or fear caused by mundane irritants. Shin is confident but not arrogant, and he maintains an analytical approach in combat. He takes pride in his clairvoyance, knowing its strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to use it effectively in battle. Shin possesses immense determination and willpower. This, combined with his dedication, innate care, and value for life, allows him to continue fighting despite the immense challenges. Like many others, Shin respects and looks up to Sakamoto.

General skill level: Shin is a competent clairvoyant melee fighter. According to Sakamoto's latest assessment, during his infiltration of the JCC, Shin is slightly above the average JAA teacher, with the exception of exceptional individuals like the late Satoda. As a member of the Sakamoto family, Shin restrains himself from killing anyone.
Increased Strength: Shin has managed to take on dangerous serial killers like the Saw, and he has also dealt powerful blows to Shinaya, causing Gaku (who was controlling Shinaya and could fight members of the Order) to take him seriously. Shin has also been able to dive, retrieve a unconscious Toramaru, and swim back to the surface. In his fight with Haruma, Shin delivers a powerful blow that knocks Haruma out of the arena (sumo). Haruma acknowledges that Shin's strikes are surprisingly strong. Shin's punches caused Tenkue to bleed from his mouth and knocked out a tooth.
Increased Speed: In addition to his clairvoyance, Shin was able to dodge the punches of Toramaru and Sinaya, who were recommended by the JAA. During the roller coaster battle, Shin was able to dodge the approaching cart and the throwing knives in the air, as well as the airsoft bullet fired by Kill Baby, even though he was blindfolded. In the battle with Tenkû, Shin orders his mind to work at full capacity. In other words, Shin can make his brain work at maximum speed, causing everything he sees to slow down.
Increased Durability: Shin was able to take hits from Shinai, who was able to send other assassins flying with a single hand. After Shin flew through a theme park and crashed into a stage, he easily got up. Shin was even able to take random hits from Sakamoto. Shin was still able to stand up despite being hit by Haruma and receiving a hit from Haruma. In his battle with Tenkyu, Shin was able to survive and win despite sustaining numerous injuries from falling, arrows, hits, and rocks.

Clairvoyance: Shin can read and feel the thoughts of people within a 400-meter radius (Chapter 193). He tunes into their thoughts like a radio receiver. He can identify specific people based on their emotional state and usually uses this to anticipate an opponent's actions or guess what they are thinking. However, Shin's clairvoyance is less effective if the person's thoughts are too chaotic to be read (such as Lu Wutan) or if the opponent acts too quickly for Shin to react. His ability depends on electromagnetic brain waves; Natsuki Seb's hood, which blocks such waves, can prevent Shin from reading his thoughts.
Precognition: Shin can see a person's future actions by reading their readiness potential for movement (i.e., the surge of activity in the motor regions of the brain before muscle movement). In the manga, this precognition is visualized as multiple predictions of what will happen. However, excessive use of this ability causes severe pain. Grandmother Mia advises that Shin should limit his use of precognition to no more than 5 minutes per day.
Mind Control: He can forcefully rewrite their thoughts, causing them to perform a new action. The downside of this ability is that he cannot use it on the same person multiple times, as seen in his battle with Tenkue, where he was unable to stop him after stopping him the first time. However, this limitation does not apply to rewriting his own thoughts, allowing him to use the ability on himself as many times as necessary. He is also capable of rewriting the thoughts of multiple individuals simultaneously, including an entire city.
A variety of assassin skills: As an assassin, Shin has also acquired several important skills, such as basic martial arts, weapon handling, and resistance to poisons.
Swimming skills: Even after falling into a lake on the lowest floor of the JAA prison as a result of falling into a crater created by Tenku, Shin somehow demonstrates excellent swimming skills.
