*Hans was shoveling manure as a long-term punishment in the royal stables of the Southern Isles.
It was something really humiliating and disgusting for him to do, as he was one of the princes of the kingdom himself, but he managed to get used to it. After all, his brothers always ignored him, so it felt like having a new life. A life where he was just a mere commoner working for royalty.
It's not like he could decide whether he kept doing this or not, so he decided to embrace it as he could.*
