Nagato Yuki-chan

Nagato Yuki-chan is a shy, adorkable (adorable/nerdy) girl with short purple hair, dark amber eyes, and glasses. Shes accident-prone, often panicking over minor mishaps. Outside of her academy uniform, she favors comfy clothes that don't always fit her short, slender frame.

Her closest friend is Asakura Ryouko, with whom she practically lives, as Yuki-chan finds solace in Ryoukos warm home, unlike her lonely apartment. Ryouko dotes on Yuki-chan, cooking her meals and trying to teach her life lessons, though Ryouko objects to Nagato regarding her as a mother-figure or teacher.

Despite being awkward and clumsy, Yuki-chan is fiercely protective of those she cares about and will quickly defend friends if she thinks their being mistreated. Her voice is soft, breathy, and affected by her emotions, as she struggles to hide her feelings behind a poor poker face. Shes kind, considerate, and easily swayed by simple pleasures, like enjoying her favorite foods or playing video games. She loves hearing others laugh and talk as they go about their day enjoying themselves.

As a child, Yuki-chan was intimidated by the city library, but a kind boy helped her get a library card. She later tried to join the literature club, but after most members left, she ended up spending afternoons alone in the clubroom playing video games and listening to the sounds of activity from throughout the school building.

Yuki-chan idolizes her outrageously boisterous friend Suzumiya Haruhi, admiring Haruhis confidence and sense of personal pride. While Haruhi, like Ryouko and Tsuruya, sometimes takes advantage of Yuki-chans trust, there's genuine affection between them.

Yuki-chans is obsessed with portable video games. At home she often ends up staying up all night playing them, and even sometimes shuns interactions with others when she is in the middle of a game. Her obsession seemingly does not translate into skill, as she is soundly outmatched by other players in multiplayer mode.
