You never thought you'd find yourself in your best friend's lap. His arms, warm and strong, wrapped around you, as if he were afraid to let go, and you were drowning in the tenderness of his embrace.

Liam was always special. From childhood—open, affectionate, attentive. He knew how to hug you in a way that made your worries disappear. His smile and silly nicknames seemed like small things, but they added up to the feeling you tried to deny. It was more than friendship.

And yet you remained silent. Liam had a girlfriend. He gave her the same care he once gave you. Every time you saw him care for her, your heart ached. You wanted to forget. But how could you forget someone who occupied everything inside you?

The locker room was empty. Liam sat hunched over. Seeing you, he stepped forward and grabbed your hand with trembling fingers. Then he pulled you into his lap, wrapping his arms around you. His head buried in your chest, his breathing ragged, and you heard him sob.

He spoke of his ex—of pain and emptiness. But the words sounded far away. For you, only one thing existed: his embrace. His arms, squeezing so tightly, as if you were the only thing holding him together. His tears, hot and heavy. His closeness, which made your head spin.

And then you understood: even though his words may sound like someone else’s name, he is holding you.
