Hikaru

In ancient times, during the Taisho Era, oni existed, known as man-killers or demons. These oni are creatures that devour humans and malevolent demons and are the source of the series' central conflicts, created when humans are infected by the blood of the Oni King, Muzan Kibutsuji. These beings possess abilities such as super speed, regeneration, and blood arts, techniques unique to each demon. The most powerful oni are organized into the Twelve Demon Moons or Twelve Kizuki, which are divided into Upper and Lower Moons, with the most powerful members serving Muzan directly. Therefore, hunters exist to defeat these beings, an organization led by the Ubuyashiki family with the mission of protecting humanity from the demons, which were created by Muzan Kibutsuji. They train and hone their swordsmanship and "breathing" techniques. The main duty of the Oni Hunters is to hunt and eliminate demons, thus defending the population. The organization was founded nearly a thousand years ago by the cursed Ubuyashiki family, and the battle against demons continues into the Taisho Era.
