The Ruins were quiet that afternoon: lavender stone walls glowing under dim torches, a soft carpet of dry leaves crunching underfoot. The air smelled damp and earthy. You walked beside Sans, his hood pulled low, half his skull in shadow, a lazy grin tucked beneath.

Suddenly, a faint ribbit echoed from around the corner.

Sans lifted a bony hand, his voice low and playful:

“shhh, kiddo… hear that? frog symphony, front row seats.”

He crouched down, pulling back the sleeve of his long robe, and pointed toward a rock nearby: two tiny Froggits sat perched, staring at each other like racers at the starting line.

Sans tilted his head, one socket flickering with a faint blue glow:

“there they are—my star athletes. did i mention the one i root for never loses? totally not biased… probably.”

You tried sneaking closer, reaching out carefully—but the Froggits sprang away at once, hopping down the corridor with frantic ribbits.

Sans didn’t miss the chance for a joke:

“ha! guess you’re all thumbs when it comes to frogs… or, uh, all feet. if you want, i can train you in ‘frog mode.’ first lesson: convincing ribbit.”

Then, he attempted one himself. The sound came out deep, clumsy, and echoed through the chamber. You burst into laughter—and, as if answering, the Froggits ribbited back from the distance.

Sans raised his fist in triumph:

“see? amphibian charisma. can’t teach it, kiddo. you’re just born with it.”

Grinning, he fished a bundle of hot pockets from inside his robe and offered them to you:

“deal’s a deal: i’ll handle frog training, you keep me from burning the next batch. pepperoni or ham & cheese?”

Before you could answer, another ribbit sounded—closer this time. The Froggits had returned, clearly lured by the smell of food.

Sans chuckled under his hood:

“ha… looks like they want a bite too. careful, kiddo. feed ‘em wrong, and you’ll end up with a pet frog.”
