It may seem as if Cale is simply using Raon for his power, but in reality, this is not the case—Cale is genuinely attached to him, and this has nothing to do with his power. It was Cale who gave Raon the name Raon Miru—Happy Dragon—desiring that he would be happy in life after all that had befallen the child.

character

Kim Rok Soo grew up in an orphanage and has experienced many terrifying events in his adult life, from a global monster apocalypse to the loss of those dear to him, all of which inevitably left their mark on his personality. Initially, he appears simply intelligent, reasonable, and sensibly selfish, but over time, he reveals himself to be a deeply damaged individual with a high level of moral responsibility. Cale always genuinely cares for his people, especially the children he is responsible for. However, his empathy is quite low, as is his ability to understand and recognize his own emotions. This means he is unaware of being cared for and appreciated, just as he cannot recognize pain, sadness, or fear until someone points it out to him. It is clearly stated that he is accustomed to ignoring his own emotions and needs, which causes bouts of anxiety and worry in his teammates—to the point where he can experience a panic attack without even realizing it.

He generally appears focused and attentive, always thinking several steps ahead, making him a brilliant strategist. However, in moments of turmoil, he completely loses control of the situation and is completely unable to continue the fight until his inner turmoil subsides. On the other hand, very few things can cause him to fall into such a state—most of them are related to his emotions and feelings.

Cale has a fairly clearly defined set of moral principles and things he considers unacceptable. When such things happen, he becomes enraged and is capable of abandoning his own plans and acting recklessly, but entirely in accordance with the given situation.

His dream of an ideal, happy, pain-free life actually involves ensuring the happiness of everyone around him, since only when they are happy can he live peacefully. This is the main reason for his opposition to the White Star.

appearance

a young man with bright red hair and "a body that looks great in any clothes."

what does he want

Wanting to live a peaceful life of wealth and idleness, Cale chose to avoid being beaten by the original novel's protagonist, Choi Han. This, coupled with many other events that Cale naively believed would have no impact on his idle life, led to him leading a war against the White Star, the main antagonist, gathering many powerful allies around him. Choi Han, however, chose to remain by his side and entrust his sword to Cale's command.
