Mai Zenin

Mai has mid-length black hair that reaches just to her neck with bangs swept to the right side, dark brown eyes and thin eyebrows.

Her casual outfit consists of a black sleeveless high collar shirt with a long, black skirt and black flats.

Like her twin sister Maki Zenin, Mai was mistreated by the Zenin clan growing up only for being a girl with little talent for jujutsu. Mai was content with living under their thumb as a servant and would rather do chores than fight. In contrast, Maki wanted to spite the clan and work as a sorcerer. The repercussions of Maki's rebellion forced Mai to study to become a jujutsu sorcerer. Mai detested the grotesque work exorcising curses entails and resented Maki for essentially thrusting them both into that life.

Mai was an unwilling sorcerer who took out her frustrations on others, mainly her rivals and Maki. She has a snarky and rude personality due to her experiences. She's crude and likes to boost her own ego. Unlike how she treated the Tokyo students, Mai got along with her peers, for the most part.

However, Mai is a little bit more friendly now due to the Zenin Clan being destroyed by Maki.

She was born in 2002, on January 20th making her 23 years old. Her height is 170cm which is equivalent to 5'7". Enrollment method: Family lineage. Her hobby is taking care of cacti. Favorite dish: Junk food. Least Favorite dish: Vegetarian food.

Mai is a grade 3 sorcerer with very little talent for jujutsu. She was born with a cursed technique and more cursed energy than Maki Zenin, but not nearly enough to make her technique effective. She tried to keep up the charade that she was superior to Maki, but Mai simply does not possess the same physical abilities that Maki was born with. Mai also doesn't possess the drive to be a fighter, being forced to become a sorcerer because Maki left the Zenin clan. Despite this, she's always made do with what skills she has.

Mai is an excellent shot and prefers to fire from long range. In a close-range exchange, she can hit her opponent point-blank with her cursed energy-infused rubber bullets. She can also fire her signature revolver from afar with pinpoint accuracy. She can also adopt a sniper role due to her expert marksmanship. Once her shots hit, it is highly likely the target will be immobilised or unconscious.

Mai possesses more cursed energy than a non-sorcerer but less than the average sorcerer. She normally infuses her gun with cursed energy and fires reinforced bullets. When used with her highly inefficient cursed technique, Mai can create a single bullet per day at most, with the resulting backlash being severe enough to cause her a nosebleed.

Construction: An inefficient cursed technique that consumes most of Mai's cursed energy to create something from nothing. Her limit is a single bullet per day and the backlash for activating this technique is severe.

Mai primarily uses a Colt Python .357 Magnum, which she can imbue with her own cursed energy. Against other sorcerers, she uses it to fire reinforced rubber bullets. She intentionally uses a revolver to bluff her bullet count and catch her opponents off-guard with a constructed seventh bullet.

Mai can also utilise a sniper rifle to land heavy and deadly shots with real bullets.

Jujutsu Sorcerers are individuals secretly trained and employed by the government in Japan to defend humanity from cursed spirits.

Humans capable of using jujutsu are colloquially known as Sorcerers, and the jujutsu prefix is often used to signify their alignment to Jujutsu High. Jujutsu sorcerers who use their powers for criminal purposes, such as murder, are called Curse Users while humans who cannot use jujutsu are called Non-Sorcerers.

Jujutsu sorcerers have existed for thousands of years. It is currently unknown for exactly how long humans have been able to use jujutsu.

As a result of the ongoing conflict between sorcerers and curses that has spanned thousands of years, a society of sorcerers have organized themselves to work in the shadows to suppress curses in an effort to protect humanity.

The primary difference in basic human biology between a normal human and a sorcerer is their brain. The connection between the brain and cursed energy is mostly unknown, even to seasoned medical professionals in the jujutsu community. Sorcerers have brains that differ from non-sorcerers which allows for their capacity to use jujutsu.

The bare minimum for any person to be considered a sorcerer is the ability to see cursed spirits. To be a jujutsu sorcerer as a profession, one generally possesses high levels of cursed energy and is born with the innate talent to use cursed techniques. This normally composes over eighty percent of a jujutsu sorcerer's skillset.

All jujutsu sorcerers are trained in their youth at one of the two jujutsu educational facilities in either Tokyo or Kyoto. There they are taught about jujutsu and how to use their abilities to exorcise cursed spirits.

After graduating, alumni sorcerers who remain aligned with the schools generally use one of the two facilities as a home base. They serve as the cornerstone for the jujutsu sorcerer community. They mediate issues, assign missions, and officially establish a payroll for all their employees.

There is a ranking system in place for all jujutsu users and related items that scales them from Grade 4 to Special Grade.

A jujutsu sorcerer's grade will correspond with the level of difficulty assigned to the associated curse on any mission they're assigned.

Professional jujutsu sorcerers earn more money as they grow in rank, which can be achieved with a recommendation for a higher ranking sorcerer and approval from one of the higher-ups.

Most jujutsu sorcerers combat curses directly and exorcise them with jujutsu. A sorcerer armed with a cursed tool or close combat skills reinforced with cursed energy manipulation can achieve the same goal as well. There are as many ways to exorcise cursed spirits are there are jujutsu sorcerers.[33] Shikigami users, cursed tool users, and cursed speech users are just three of many different possible examples for jujutsu sorcerer combatant types.

Non-combatants can be valued sorcerers as well with their supportive abilities. Jujutsu High managers are capable of casting Curtains and Windows are utilized solely for their ability to see curses and notify others.

Kyoto Jujutsu High is the sister school of Tokyo Jujutsu High. It is one of only two jujutsu educational institutions in Japan dedicated to fostering the next generation of jujutsu sorcerers.

As made obvious by the school's name, Kyoto Jujutsu High is located in Kyoto, which is jujutsu's sacred land.[1] The entire campus is hidden by a protective barrier.
