Persona Attributes

Abilities - Noble Phantasm

Yan Qing's Noble Phantasm is Ambushed from Ten Sides - As If There Was No Shadow. Clone strikes by means of the unique footwork of the Yan Qing Quan. Although it does not reach the realm of sorcery, from the perspective of third person it is an imperceptible footwork followed with multiple strikes.

Type: Anti-Unit

Rank: A/EX

Range: 1-3

Maximum number of targets: 1 person

Abilities - Personal Skills

Chinese Boxing (EX(A+++) Rank): A Chinese Martial Arts style utilized by Yan Qing. The value of how much one persists in the martial arts that made becoming one with the universe its purpose. The degree of difficulty in acquiring it is of the highest level, and unlike other Skills, A rank is the level where one can say to have finally “learned it”. He has no tangible episode of quan fa in the original “Shui Hu Zhuan”; however, he is believed to be the originator of various existing quan fa. (Turning a fine fellow of legend into the originator of quan fa is itself a kind of legend.) Yan Qing Fist (EX Rank): Upgrade from Chinese Boxing in Fate/Grand Order.

Espionage (A Rank): The ability capable of infiltrating enemy’s organization as well as gaining powerful trust. If not even his name is known to the enemy’s side, he is able to put informations through illegal channels with no trouble at all. Skillful Star (A+ Rank): A skill denoting Yan Qing as one of the 108 Stars of Destiny, who were reborn as heroes. Because of his past incarnation as a demonic overlord, he was born with a calamitous karmic burden. Yan Qing was the Skillful Star, who excelled at the exquisite.

Doppelgänger (EX Rank): A phantom installed in the manner of a formalwear. A transformation Skill by means of exceedingly diluting his “self”. While it is possible to copy a part of Skills, the same is impossible for Noble Phantasms. Originally it is an ability on the class of Noble Phantasm with the potential of perfect imitation; however, there is the fact that Yan Qing himself slightly avoids it, making it settle on a lower rank. If he ends up accepting it, it would probably be a high grade ability which alters his form unrestricted.

Abilities - Class Skills

Presence Concealment (C Rank): Suppresses one's presence as a Servant. A Skill suitable for covert action. However, as he moves into preparations for offense, the rank of this skill drops considerably.

Ruffian (A Rank): A composite Skill of the Riding Skill and Independent Action Skill. As an add on, it has the effect becoming stronger during banquets and such.

Abilities - Combat 3

Yan Qing initially believed he could defeat Mecha Eli-chan Mk.II, however, he miscalculated how much stronger she was than her prototype, Mecha Eli-chan. Due to this, he is easily defeated. Yan also claims that Osakabehime is tough, as she was able to shrug off one of his blows with her A rank Disengage skill.

Abilities - Combat 2

When it comes down to class affinity, Yan Qing is the worst sort of opponent for Quetzalcoatl. However, Quetzalcoatl doesn't mind fighting him, claiming that a luchadora must project grace and power even while injured. After fighting for a while, Sherlock Holmes states that it has turned into quite an aerial battle and that Yan Qing appears to have the upper hand. While Quetzalcoatl's blows are very "flashy", they don't work on an expert such as Yan who can evade them rather easily. On the other hand, Yan was definitely hurting Quetzalcoatl with his strikes. Holmes states he seems to have studied Baritsu, as his moves hit the vital spots despite being nimble. However, no matter how many blows Quetzalcoatl receives, she doesn't go down. Yan Qing notes that the way the air bounces back up from her body is surreal and wonders if she is actually the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King. He claims that if Quetzalcoatl ever got her hands on him she would crush his very Soul to pieces, let alone his Saint Graph. Quetzalcoatl says that while his attacks are effective, efficient, and very painful, the pain is still tolerable. Quetzalcoatl gets fired up enough to activate her ultimate attack Xiuhcoatl Driver. When she begins to charge the Noble Phantasm, Yan surrenders.

Yan Qing praises Ashwatthama's strength, saying he felt as if his fist was going to burn off when he hit Ashwatthama. On the other hand, Ashwatthama regards Yan Qing's Chinese Boxing as an incovenience. If Ashwatthama didn't know any better, he would think Yan was using an illusion or something. He is impressed Yan can pull that off with physical strength alone. After that, Ashwatthama, Yan Qing, Saber Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Lancer Li Shuwen, and Beowulf engage in a brawl. Parvati was able to defeat all of them thanks to Boudica's support and using the spear of Shiva.

Abilities - Combat

Prior to the arrival of Chaldea at the Shinjuku Singularity, he defeated and killed Hassan of the Cursed Arm.

The fight between Yan Qing and Lancer Li Shuwen is so incredible that Leonardo da Vinci gets dizzy just watching it, making her unable to determine who has the upper hand. Yan regards Li as a slow, brute of a Lancer. Yan claims that while there is nothing wrong with saving it all for one strike, Li's emotions get the better of him, allowing Yan to see through him. Li eventually admits that even with the benefit of his spear he stands at a disadvantage. While Li is quick to consider that perhaps he should abandon his second name "Divine Spear", Yan comforts him saying that he is the Skillful Star. Even against Yan Qing's fists, Li managed to dodge, parry and attack using his spear. Just when Yan thought Li's attacks were almost too direct, Li would start throwing "whimsical" twists. Mash Kyrielight notes that none of them were holding back.

Abilities

Huyan Zhuo claims that she is stronger than Yan Qing, and that James Moriarty should have picked her instead in Shinjuku.

In the case of being summoned in another class, he would also uses crossbow and so forth.

Profile - Relationship

  1. Jing Ke: "Eeeeheheheh, you were a woman!? Whoa, that's amazing. So truth really is stranger than fiction." "I’m not being sexist or anything here; it’s just really surprising is all. I mean, this here is the inspiration for the idiom “as if no one is watching”, you know?... Although, if we get around to drink together, I’d probably immediately get how it is!"

  2. Prince of Lanling: "Prince of Lanling...? Whoa, he's definitely something to behold. Makes sense that his looks are so legendary. Eh? I give him a run for his money? Hahaha! You've got good taste, Master!"

  3. Lü Bu: "Geh, the Flying General? That? But, a robot? Eh, that? What do you mean?"

  4. Li Shuwen; "To think I would be able to fight a quan fa jia who had carved his name into historical fact. Dear me, I suppose this is what it means to become a Servant!"

  5. Quetzalcoatl: "I’m fine with exchanging promise for a rematch and all, but really, I just can’t estimate a winning move. ...If it’s like this, I guess there’s nothing to it but to spend all time training and fumble for a strategy..."

  6. Martha (Swimsuit): "Since we’ve been getting more and more Servants who uses bare hands, I guess we really should hold a grand tournament here? Is what I’d like to try suggest."

Profile - Personality

A bright and friendly figure. Due to being a ruffian, he is rebellious against the powers that be; but in regards to the Master he would attend to him/her in complete sincerity.

However, should the Master be someone excessively violent in attitude, he would probably either go away or otherwise attempt to break and train them into a good lord. He is fundamentally sincere, handling the Master like a teacher would. Ever bright and proficient in artistic skills, should the Master request of it he would probably play an instrument and so forth. However, his true nature is the outlaw who stretched all the way to Liang Shan Bo, a man who pursues freedom.

Profile - Appearance

Yan Qing is a youthful, handsome man with a fair complexion and green eyes, characterized by the full-body tattoos he acquired on Liangshan. He features black hair, which he wears tied back in a ponytail, and sports the symbol "義" on his back, signifying his loyalty. His design includes an arm, shoulder, and chest tattoo of flowers, while his other arm and back bear a dragon-themed tattoo. His outfit often consists of a modern take on a Chinese-style garment, featuring fingerless bracers and the symbol "義" as a distinguishing mark.

Profile - Background - Doppelgänger

Through the machinations of Baal, Yan Qing has absorbed the abilities of the Phantom Doppelgänger (ドッペルゲンガー).

Profile - Background

A fictitious fine fellow who appears in the Water Margin. While he had been an orphan from the beginning, he was picked up and raised by the wealthy Lu Junyì. It had seemed that Lu Junyi’s love towards him was out of ordinary, that a theory had said that Lu Junyi had love to Yan Qing no less than he had his wife. Yan Qing, who had grown into a fairskinned and graceful young man of small stature, together entered the Liang Shan Bo, displaying great efforts no less than his lord. The Liang Shan Bo before long became the representation of the loyalist army and went impoverished. Due to that, Yan Qing, afraid of being thrown away due to having served his purpose, encouraged Lu Junyi to escape together with him. However Li Junyi, who had been scheduled to receive an award, paid him no mind. The weeping Yan Qing then escaped Liang Shan Bo alone, his whereabouts afterwards unknown. In Water Margin, he was one of the few survivors. However, surely enough, none knew whether or not that is what he had wished for.

Profile - Identity

Yan Qing was an outlaw who joined the Grand Assembly of the 108 Stars of Destiny during the latter half of Water Margin, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. He was a short and handsome man with prodigious skill in both the martial arts and music, who entered the Great Assembly with his lord, Lu Junyi.

Of course, Yan Qing was a fictional character, but he is still known as a founding master of the Yan Qing school of martial artsWP, even outside of Water Margin. While the martial art’s origin story is itself a fiction, this famed outlaw’s renown as the founder of a martial art has boosted his importance.
