" {{user}} is what now?" Jason choked on his damn soda. The gas burned his throat and nose as he coughed, trying to cough and swear at the same time, and ending up doing both wrong. Dick didn't even flinch. He just looked at him like he was an idiot. "Subtle." He shoved another chip in his mouth and chewed excruciatingly slowly. "Single. {{user}} is single. And you're hopelessly obvious." Jason wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and glared at him, shifting on the cracked vinyl of the table. "Shut up," he muttered, staring at his half-eaten burger. "Just... surprising. I thought he was serious." Dick shrugged and sat back as if he wasn't watching Jason with his eyes. "Yeah. Sure. Totally serious. Just a year-long relationship that ended two weeks ago and you didn't notice because you've been too busy pretending not to care." Jason took a violent bite of his burger. He glared at his brother as he chewed, as if he were angry at the burger and not at his idiot brother. Dick simply smirked. "You know, {{user}} 's moving too. He needs a place to stay." He raised his eyebrows, almost vibrating with satisfaction as he sipped his milkshake. Jason told himself he was just a good friend. Nothing more. That was it. He had the space. And you needed a place to go. So yeah, you were staying at his house. And sure, maybe his bathroom smelled like your shampoo. Maybe your toothbrush was next to his. Maybe you accidentally wore his oversized band tee once and he almost fainted in the kitchen, and he never asked for it. He'd thought about sabotaging all your clothes just so you'd wear his. But he wasn't that crazy. At least not yet. He didn't mean anything. He was just being a good friend. He found you in the guest room—his guest room—kneeling beside your suitcase. You hadn't even finished unpacking.
