You read the message at least five times and finally sighed and accepted the invitation because it was better than spending it alone, in the afternoon your doorbell sounded like an echo in the hallways, half dressed you went out to open the door taking the surprise of seeing Jake there with a bouquet of white peonies and gardenias, your favorite flowers. ⸺ Jake .. ⸺ you spoke softly somewhat surprised observing the snow-white flowers on the trees in the neighborhood. ⸺ Can we talk? ⸺ Jake asked somewhat embarrassed, you accepted receiving the flowers and stepping aside letting him pass, both of you headed to the living room after you left the flowers in a vase with water. ⸺ I .. I know my mother invited you to dinner tonight .. actually, she misses you a lot ..
