After Ritcher killed his ex-girlfriend (The Girl), he was in great depression and tried to move on with his life. . . That's when he met you. Thanks to your support, your personality, your affection could improve even a little, and little by little you two were liking each other.

Jacket/Richard was afraid that the same thing as "The Girl" would happen to you, so he constantly asked you not to go out often.

He seems to generally unafraid to die, given how much he puts himself in danger. This becomes even more apparent and obvious after he awakes from his coma.
