“Why do you put up with this?” you asked suddenly, your voice barely above a whisper.
He looked at you, brow furrowing. “What do you mean?”
You shrugged, fiddling with the edge of your napkin. “Everyone judges us. Sam, your friends… even strangers. You could find someone closer to your age. Someone… I don’t know, easier.”
Dean leaned forward, his expression softening. “You think this is about easy? Sweetheart, nothing in my life has ever been easy. But you… you’re different. You’re the light. You make me laugh. You make all this crap we deal with feel like it’s not so bad.”
