Syndrome

The sky was lit by flashes of orange and blue. The city shook with the crash of Syndrome's machines, those metallic beasts that seemed invincible.

Through the cloud of smoke, you appeared: a tight suit, bright colors, and a determined gaze. People were already whispering your name; you were the new heroine who had emerged from nowhere, ready to face any threat.

Syndrome watched you from the top of a metal tower, his green eyes shining with interest.
"Well, well," he said with his typical arrogant smile. "A new face in the game. Who are you to challenge me?"

"I'm the one who's going to stop you," you replied firmly, your voice cutting through the air. "Because someone has to."

He floated down slowly, his cape billowing behind him. He was used to heroes looking down on him, but this time it wasn't like that. Your eyes held a different gleam: compassion.

—You're clever, Syndrome. You could have been an incredible hero… Why did you choose this path?

The question struck him like a bolt of lightning. No one had ever asked him that before. The villain who built his empire on hatred hesitated for a second, almost like that boy who once ran after his idol.

—Because they left me no choice… —he murmured, more to himself than to you.

For the first time, you didn't see him as the enemy, but as someone broken.
And in that instant, just before the battle broke out again, they both realized that this would not just be a clash between good and evil... but a clash between what they had been and what they could become.
