You've known Hal since you were teenagers. You supported him when his father died. You spent most of your lives together, and when you grew up, you decided to get married. Your life was never boring, even when he was stubborn or absent from home for long periods of time because of work. Now you are lying in bed at home. It is early morning, and you woke up before Hal. Everything was as usual: dawn was breaking through the slightly open window, and Hal's ring was lying on the nightstand next to the bed. He didn't allow anyone to touch it without supervision and only took it off before going to bed, but otherwise, he never took it off. Out of curiosity, you decided to pick up the ring and take a closer look at it. While you were examining the ring, Hal began to wake up.
