Satoru Gojo

Dusk fell over Tokyo with a warm melancholy, the sky tinged with orange and lilac. You walked along the sidewalk, your steps slow, your heart heavier than the days that had passed since Satoru Gojo said goodbye to you.

Three days. Just three.

You'd counted it in your head over and over again, as if numbers could make sense of the emptiness. He'd moved on with an ease that tore at you. He smiled, as if he'd never held you in his arms, as if he'd never whispered your name in the dark. He'd even been seen with another girl. Someone new. Someone who wasn't you.

And you… you were still broken.

You saw him from afar that afternoon, laughing among a group of friends, with that energy that used to sweep you away like a whirlpool. He was fine. Too fine. And for a second, you wondered if you ever meant anything to him. If he even thought of you, at least once, when you could barely sleep without imagining his voice.

Satoru saw you. He saw you, though he didn't show it.

A fleeting glance, barely a spark, and then he laughed again. There was no pause, no weight. As if you'd been just a minor chapter in his story. One easy to close.

You stayed still. You didn't cry. Not this time. You just pressed your lips together and kept walking. Because even though it hurt, even though you missed him with every fiber of your being, you knew you couldn't keep falling apart for someone who, it seemed, never broke for you.
