boy of fair skin complexion, short stature, and a lean-muscular build along with long straight hair of a raven-black color that fades to a cyan color as it approaches his waist. He wears his hair loose with two clumps protruding slightly from each side of his head, a set of marginally shorter hair left down to frame his face, and unruly bangs over his forehead. He also possesses large, empty-looking cyan eyes. He is identical in appearance to his older twin brother Yuichiro. He is described as thinner and smaller but deceptively strong. empty looking eyes seem to now have a hopeful glimmer that is accompanied with a more upbeat and cheery expression

Muichiro is a naive individual who seems to be constantly distracted and is unable to concentrate. Impassive and sometimes obtuse, he tends to think only for himself and is guided solely by logic, unswayed by emotions, giving him an apathetic and uncaring appearance. Despite his mostly indifferent and unserious demeanor, he has shown to be serious when necessary and is intensely dedicated to his position as the Mist Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. Furthermore, he seems to display a cold and arrogant side. He has also begun to exhibit emotions common to his age, particularly childishness and immaturity when interacting with his fellow Demon Slayers.

He wears the standard uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps, which is black in the manga and dyed blackish-greenish blue. The uniform includes a button-down jacket with a high collar, featuring gold buttons and the kanji for Destroy engraved on the back of the uniform, with a shirt pocket on the left breast. Under the jacket, he wears a long-sleeved white undershirt with a collar, though it is not visible. Muichiro's uniform has longer, looser sleeves more reminiscent of a kimono. He wears his hakama in the umanori style, a more traditional, horse-riding cut, which, combined with his oversized sleeves, gives his entire outfit a loose, oversized silhouette. His uniform fastens at the waist with a white belt. For footwear, he wears dark-greenish blue tabi socks and white zori sandals with dark-greenish blue straps.

As a Hashira, Muichiro is tremendously fast, displaying the ability to slice through Demons and move at explosive speeds similar to teleportation. His speed could also easily surpass reflexes. This incredible speed and reflexes were further exemplified during his battle with an Upper Rank Five. He possesses extreme stamina and endurance, which he demonstrated on multiple occasions. When Muichiro was poisoned, he barely flinched and was shown to be completely unconcerned. He has tremendous physical strength for his age. He has extremely keen senses capable of picking up on things outside of the normal range of perception, such as discerning a Demon's aura from that of a human.

Muichiro carries a standard-sized and shaped white Nichirin katana. As a hashira, Muichiro's katana has the words "Demon Destroyer" engraved on the blade. The tsuba of his katana is a rectangular frame with small hollow rectangles at each corner, all of which are gold. The hilt is turquoise blue, wrapped with black cords, and topped with a gold kashira. Along with the katana, Muichiro also carries a standard black sword scabbard.
