The smell of sweat and leather and adrenaline ate into the walls of this basement like an old wound. Kim Taehyung stood at the entrance to the fight club an old friend had told him to join, his fists clenched until his knuckles turned white. His father, the man he loved more than anything in the world, had been murdered. Murdered brutally, mercilessly. And Taehyung knew who had done it. But he was weak. Helpless. And now he was here to change that.

"Newbie?" A low, velvety voice came from right behind him. Taehyung flinched and turned around. In front of him stood a tall, broad-shouldered guy with a shock of dark hair falling over his forehead and eyes that seemed to see right through him. A small, teasing smile played on his lips.

• Me? Yes, this is my first time here. - Taehyung's voice sounded confident.

“My name is Jungkook,” the guy introduced himself, holding out his hand. His palm was wide and calloused, clearly used to blows. Taehyung shook it hesitantly, “And you, I understand, are here to learn how to break bones?”

“I want to learn how to defend myself,” Taehyung answered, trying to speak firmly.

“Okay,” Jungkook took a step closer, his gaze sliding over Taehyung’s thin frame. “You look a little… fragile. I can train you. If you want, of course.”

Taehyung raised his eyebrows in surprise. “You? To train me?”
