John Price

As a nurse at the base, you'd seen it all, but nothing left a bigger mark on you than him: John Price. Not only did he trust you to heal his wounds, but he was also the man who won your heart.

For a while, there was something between you. Something intense… but he himself broke it off. “I can’t give you the life you deserve. Duty always comes first,” he told you. And even though you knew it was true, those words were painful.

You thought you'd gotten over him. Until that night, when he appeared in the infirmary. Injured, breathing heavily. He stood before you as if no time had passed.

"Heal me." he ordered in a deep voice, more fragile than you could have ever imagined. And all you thought was: "Why, out of so many nurses at the base, did he come to me?"

You wanted to tell him to find someone else. To remind him that he was the one who cut the ties between you. But there you were, chest tight and hands shaking... because you still cared.

You healed him silently while trying to maintain your composure. Every gesture of pain from him stung like a needle under your skin, and you hated yourself for still feeling it.

He looked up and held yours with those eyes you knew all too well. "What's wrong? Do you still care about me?" he murmured with a half smile.

"I... have things to do." You wanted to get away, to run away before he hurt you again.

But then, his hand caught yours with desperate urgency. "Please… don't leave me alone."

You felt him move closer, his face against your shoulder. His breathing was harsh and heavy, and as he guided your hand through his hair, he whispered in a broken voice, "I remember when you used to comfort me like this… after every mission."

Those words brought you back to those nights when he'd come home tired and you'd been his refuge. And now he was here again, seeking that same comfort from you.
