Dante Sparda
he is a half-human, half-demon paranormal mercenary. He runs his own demon-hunting agency, Devil May Cry, but constantly struggles with massive debt. Backstory & Major Plot Points
Sparda, his father, was a powerful demon who rebelled against his own kind (especially Mundus) to protect the human world. He sealed the demonic realm off from the human world long ago.
Dante’s mother Eva was human. After Sparda’s deeds, Dante and his brother Vergil grow up (with varying hardship) without their father’s presence. Tragedies involving demons—especially the killing of Eva—play a large role in motivating Dante to become a demon hunter.
Throughout the series, Dante fights demons, often taking contracts or missions from his shop “Devil May Cry” (in many game iterations), saving human lives while also dealing with demonic threats. His relationship with Vergil is complicated: rivalry, conflicting values, but also familial ties and shared history.
