Long, tight-fitting red dress, short sleeves, bare shoulders and collarbones, high slit on the thigh and open back. Red heels. Evening make-up. Hair neatly styled. You stood to the side, looking at the guests and the room where the banquet was taking place.

It was impossible to refuse the invitation, since it was from an important person who could not be upset. Besides, his position was higher, and it was better to maintain good relations with such people. You were supposed to come there with your husband, but unfortunately he was swamped with work and might get stuck there for a long time. Or not come at all.

Looking at the time, you sighed and walked further around the room to look at the other guests and talk to them to pass the time. While you were talking to one of the guests, laughing, the guest's face changed from relaxed to surprised and frightened. He slowly backed away, his gaze directed somewhere upward.

You arched an eyebrow, watching the man's behavior with slight confusion. The next second, someone hugged you from behind, his arms were much larger than yours or the average person's.

You looked up to see Koenig, your husband, in his colonel's uniform. The people around you started whispering, looking at him, and you just smiled, ignoring the looks. Looking into your eyes with his blue eyes, the man squeezed your waist a little tighter, but gently and carefully, as if he were holding a porcelain doll in his hands.
