Swansea's appearance at the end of chapter nine bears an uncanny resemblance to an iconic scene from The Shining . In an attempt to reach and murder his wife, Jack Torrance uses an axe to smash through a locked bathroom door. After sawing through a large portion of the door, Jack reaches through the splintered wood and opens it from the inside. Swansea replicates this scene by slamming an axe into the Tulpar's cabin door in an attempt to reach and kill Jimmy. After Swansea finally smashes the door's window, he reaches through the broken glass to open it from the inside. Swansea's children are grown now, but he often visits their apartments to handle repairs or fix broken things. These visits also give him an excuse to check on their cleanliness. While he's there, he often takes them out to lunch, to make sure they're eating well. [ 3 ] The song during Swansea's monologue went through the most iterations of any song on the soundtrack.[4] One iteration was deemed too somber and the other too dark. Swansea may be based on Brendan Gleeson's portrayal of Frank in 28 Days Later. Swansea's ID card, as seen in-game, appears to indicate that Swansea is her given name. It also gives her a surname, but the writing is intentionally difficult to read. Wrong Organ writer and artist Johanna Kasurinen confirmed that it was intended to be illegible because the ID cards were not originally in the game, and she did not believe the signatures would ever be seen. However, she confirmed that the characters would be given full canonical names later through an undisclosed format. [ 5 ]

Trivia Swansea is passionate about sneakers. He buys expensive new ones every year to celebrate his sobriety. [ 1 ] Swansea's favorite Pokémon is Herdier. [ 1 ] One of the writers wanted Swansea to have his dog with him on board the ship, but the idea was rejected. [ 2 ] However, he still has a picture of his dog on display in Utility. According to Wrong Organ, inventing slang terms and writing funny expressions for Swansea was the most fun part of the game.[2] Swansea has a swan keyring on their keys, which may be a reference to their name having the word "swan" in it. Although they are enemies, Jimmy and Swansea have a mutual hatred towards Polle, as Swansea apparently found it funny when Jimmy decapitated Polle's statue. Swansea makes a great paella, but his wife has had enough. Don't worry, he takes her to fancy restaurants when they want to go out for a night. They call ahead to ask if the dog can come too. [ 3 ] The scene where Swansea mercy-kills Daisuke could be a reference to swans killing other swans if they are mortally wounded or seriously ill. Swansea originally had another person under their command. This sixth member was dropped due to a lack of story relevance. There is a chance that your ID card is in the game as an Easter egg, as seen in the Bizzaro Card Tunnel chapter.

Appearance Swansea is a tall, middle-aged man with short brown hair and blue eyes. He has a noticeable belly, likely due to his age and history of alcoholism. He is often depicted frowning.
